sandi1967 Posted March 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Just curious to see if anyone has stayed there? Our flight gets in so late, that we are really just looking for a clean/safe place to sleep for the night. It is relatively inexspensive. Thank you in advance, Sandi
JohninDC Posted March 8, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Doral is West of the MIA airport and farther away from the port -- is a shuttle to POM included?
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 8, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Check the hotels in Blue Lagoon or La Quinta MIA, which has an airport and a port shuttle. Taxi fare from Doral to port could run around $40 plus tip.
fishywood Posted March 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Our flight gets in so late, that we are really just looking for a clean/safe place to sleep for the night. The Doral Inn and Suites is 6.9 miles from the airport terminal https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Miami+International+Airport+(MIA),+2100+NW+42nd+Ave,+Miami,+FL+33126/Doral+Inn+%26+Suites+Miami+Airport+West,+Northwest+82nd+Avenue,+Miami,+FL/@25.7952494,-80.3324496,13z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m13!4m12!1m5!1m1!1s0x88d9b74d4eb94ac1:0x989fdae0cba2f8e1!2m2!1d-80.2870457!2d25.795865!1m5!1m1!1s0x88d9b90e819efb61:0x271a310d1294ddc7!2m2!1d-80.328676!2d25.782979?hl=en ...which is only one mile closer than a downtown Miami hotel such as the Holiday Inn https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Miami+International+Airport+(MIA),+2100+NW+42nd+Ave,+Miami,+FL+33126/Holiday+Inn+Port+Of+Miami-Downtown,+Biscayne+Boulevard,+Miami,+FL/@25.7941251,-80.2726823,13z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x88d9b74d4eb94ac1:0x989fdae0cba2f8e1!2m2!1d-80.2870457!2d25.795865!1m5!1m1!1s0x88d9b69fc83bf673:0x1fb8b547ca1b48df!2m2!1d-80.188828!2d25.777833!5i1?hl=en So if booking a hotel as close to the airport as possible was your goal due to your late arrival, there is no real difference between travel to this hotel and one near the port. And did you verify that the hotel shuttle runs as late as your flight arrives--I found no time schedule or other specifics on their website other than the "free airport shuttle" blurb on the splash page. Flymia Posted March 8, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2017 Does not make sense given how far it is to the Airport and even farther to the port. Make sure to look into the added cost of transportation. There are tons of hotels near the airport.
BlueHerons Posted March 8, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 8, 2017 It is way out of the way, inconvenient, and traffic is horrible.

JohninDC Posted March 9, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 9, 2017 If you are arriving late and just want dinner and a room check out hotels in the Blue Lagoon area - Homewood Suites, Hampton Inn, etc. with nearby shopping and dining options. If arriving earlier look at downtown hotels. Mary Brickell is a popular area (Hampton Inn, etc,). Other popular downtown hotels include Hyatt, Intercontinental, Doubletree, and various Marriott options.
