kitkat6937 Posted March 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2017 We are thinking about treating ourselves to steakhouse and wanted reviews about it. Is it worth the money? How was the food? Thank You..
steveha0801 Posted March 10, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2017 For us, it is worth it. they have fantastic steaks in a somewhat elegant atmosphere. In my opinion , they are on par with a Ruth's Chris type steakhouse. Sent from my iPad using Forums
BaileynBrutus'smom Posted March 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2017 I've done on all my cruises on the Dream and have my reservation booked again on the Dream next month. I agree food is comparable to Ruth Chris
coevan Posted March 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2017 completely worth it, the apps and soups are fabulous and you can have more than one. Although the portions are so big, you don't need more than one. My wife does not eat red meat ans has either the Main Lobster or the Sea Bass which she says is world class. MissKIA Posted March 10, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2017 The Steakhouse is absolutely worth it.

Micahs Grandad Posted March 11, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2017 We enjoy it and do it every few cruises. Good but not on par with world class steakhouse.
vamartha Posted March 11, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2017 Definitely worth it! And the one on the Dream is not as jampacked for space as others we have tried. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
KPfromCT Posted March 11, 2017 #9 Share Posted March 11, 2017 Never did it on the Dream, but have done it twice on the Breeze and it was probably one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. We literally ROLLED out of there. Food was amazing, and portions were crazy big. We have it booked on our first night on the Magic in June. Can't wait!!:D
rdemn Posted March 11, 2017 #10 Share Posted March 11, 2017 does the steakhouse fill up fast? Would it be advisable to pre-book before start of cruise or make reservations on the ship? We like to see the menu in the MDR before we decide on the steakhouse don't want to miss something good. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted March 11, 2017 #11 Share Posted March 11, 2017 We eat at the Steakhouse each night of our cruise, its fabulous! I don't like Ruth Chris for many reasons, the Steakhouse is above Ruth Chris!
Shaded Lady Posted March 11, 2017 #12 Share Posted March 11, 2017 I would advise you to make reservations before you board. The steakhouse can fill up fast, depending on the ship. You can always cancel if you have to. We were a bit unsure of the steakhouse the first time we tried it too, but it is absolutely worth the $35 pp cost. Don't forget that includes the gratuity- but feel free to leave a little extra if you feel the servers warranted it. The food is phenomenal! DebbieMo Posted March 12, 2017 #13 Share Posted March 12, 2017 Is the upcharge steak in the MDR the same as in the steakhouse? We had people in our party order the upcharge steak and didn't like it. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted March 12, 2017 #14 Share Posted March 12, 2017 No the steak in the MDR that your able to upgrade is not the same steak you get in the steakhouse.
coevan Posted March 13, 2017 #15 Share Posted March 13, 2017 agreed, I believe we were told in the Behind the Scenes tour that the only open flames allowed were in the Steakhouse. The entire MDR kitchen is flameless. The cooking method, like Ruth's Chris is what makes the steaks so delicious.
TJMK Posted March 13, 2017 #16 Share Posted March 13, 2017 Well worth it. We ate there 6 of our 7 nights! Can't go wrong.
trj1020 Posted March 18, 2017 #17 Share Posted March 18, 2017 Would formal wear be out of place in the steakhouse? We are going for our anniversary and I thought about wearing a full length chiffon dress.
Monalis Posted March 18, 2017 #18 Share Posted March 18, 2017 Would formal wear be out of place in the steakhouse? We are going for our anniversary and I thought about wearing a full length chiffon dress. We are going for our anniversary as well! Feel free to wear whatever you want, but if you think you'll stand out too much you can always book your reservation for one of the formal nights. That way you can get pictures taken as well and others will be dressed more formally. Sent from my XT1030 using Forums mobile app
coevan Posted March 18, 2017 #19 Share Posted March 18, 2017 the Steakhouse is pretty casual
trj1020 Posted March 18, 2017 #20 Share Posted March 18, 2017 Thanks, I think I will dress nice but not formal and maybe save the formal wear for the two formal nights on the cruise. I appreciate it.
katiel53 Posted March 18, 2017 #21 Share Posted March 18, 2017 The Steak House is a must do on all our Carnival cruises. If you go there the first or most times the second night (which is usually the first formal night) they will give you a free bottle of wine. It's definitely not the best wine, but, I hate to admit, I have had worse. We have gotten the red wine and it was drinkable. I have heard that the white wasn't, but I don't drink white so I can't say. It is so much nicer than the MDR in that you can talk quietly instead of almost having to raise your voice because of the din in the MDR. Some cruises we go 3 times depending on the menu for the night. It is definitely part of our cruise.
