sk84fungirl Posted March 19, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2017 (edited) In addition to checking TripAdvisor, I'm interested in knowing if any cruisers have visited Gulfstream Park or Village of during your pre or post stay. It apparently has many options for a diverse group. Currently planning for a small group late Saturday night out and want to do something other than Las Olas as we will do that and the beach Friday. Thanks in advance...:D Edited March 19, 2017 by sk84fungirl
Rare crewsweeper Posted March 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2017 You mean the race track and casino? If the horses are running (and I think they are) it can make for a fun afternoon. Casinos aren't my thing, and I don't typically go to casinos for entertainment or dining.
Corby114 Posted March 20, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 20, 2017 My condo is two blocks away from Gulfstream Park. There are plenty of restaurants at the facility and live racing is Wednesday to Sunday until I believe mid April. My family likes the Yard House for sandwiches and drinks and I was just there last Thursday night. There is also a bowling alley and shops like Crate and Barrel on the property. There are plans to also build a hotel and condos in the near future. The place has definitely grown since I started to visit the area thirty years ago. Corby114 Posted March 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2017 The casino is relatively small. They have a poker room and slot machines but no table games.
Pony Player Posted March 20, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 20, 2017 I've been to Gulfstream several times, as Corby114 says, the casino is kind of Meh, and while the ponies will be running on 6/17 (guessing the date from your sig) remember that live racing takes place in the afternoon, from around 1:00 to 6:00 or so. If you want to bet on the west coast tracks, they have a good simulcasting facility.
sk84fungirl Posted March 21, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted March 21, 2017 Thanks so much for the replies. From the website, I thought it was a cool place for the evening/night. From here and Tripadvisor it appears something for more of an afternoon which wont be an option for us. I'll keep researching.
loanshark Posted March 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted March 21, 2017 Dania JaiAlai has live games in the evening through Jun 30. I believe they start at 8:00 pm every evening.

And if you've never seen Jai alai, it's an exciting different thing to watch. Especially the locals attending.:D
Pony Player Posted March 22, 2017 #9 Share Posted March 22, 2017 I'd bet the simulcast of Santa Anita (heck, I'd even bet Mountaineer) before I'd bet jai alai, but that's just me

BlueHerons Posted March 22, 2017 #11 Share Posted March 22, 2017 I'd go eat and then do the water taxi at night. The scenery is stunning and it is also fun to bar hop on it.

sandancer Posted March 26, 2017 #14 Share Posted March 26, 2017 We've visited Gulfstream a couple of times and enjoyed eating there and having a little slot fun when staying pre-cruise at the Crowne Plaza at Hallandale/Hollywood Beach. Even took the city bus once. There is a water taxi stop right at the hotel as well. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
