MaryAnne1 Posted April 25, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2017 My second trip to Alaska takes place in August. the first trip our helicopter ride to land on a glacier was canceled due to the weather. it is still on my bucket list. I do not want to spend $500 to do this! any recommendations for a $300 version would be great and whether from Juneau or from Denali. Name of company please. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Forums
alwaysfrantic Posted April 25, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2017 Holland America has one from Haines in Skagway, Lynn Canal Glacier, for $399. Don't know who the provider is though.

SightCRR Posted April 26, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 26, 2017 Not sure if you have extra time in ANC but you can drive to Matanuska glacier and go for guided hike. Two hr one way drive and cost about $100 min p/p and more if you stay longer. Not often shut down because of weather. sightcrr
OhJinkies Posted April 26, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 26, 2017 You haven't mentioned whether you're spending any time inland after or before your cruise. For my cruise, I'm doing a DIY post-cruise tour. I'm taking a flightseeing tour out of Talkeetna into Denali National Park, which will land on a glacier. There are a couple of companies that offer this - I'm flying with Talkeetna Air Taxi. When I booked the tour last year, the price was $370. 4774Papa Posted April 26, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 26, 2017 If you go to the Canadian Rockies, there is a great place for walking on a glacier, no chopper required.
JoAnneNYI Posted April 26, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 26, 2017 Talkeetna Air also has given AAA discounts in past for 10%
MaryAnne1 Posted April 26, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted April 26, 2017 I arrive in Fairbanks (about 2days) onto Denali (2 days) then via anchorage (couple hours) to Seward to board ship. We already have some activities scheduled with the pre cruise stops. But there is some free time in Fairbanks and Denali. Jasper National Park was my first thought as well! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
