I have about 1875 credits pending form RCCL Visa. I paid up all the charges on the card last week. Billing cycle is on 9th. Is that when the points can be redeemed? Cruise is on the 22nd.

This is the chonological process so far:

- Received RCCL Visa from Bank of A last month

- Used card to acquire points

- Reached the charge threshold to receive maximum bonus points

- Paid all charges a week before the billing statement

- Went to RCCL site to redeem points:

http://www.royalcaribbean.com/customersupport/faq/details.do?pagename=frequently_asked_questions&faqId=5663&faqSubjectId=513

https://www.managerewardsonline.com/RMSapp/Ctl/entry?pid=grprwd&mc=RCCL

- See that 1875 points are pending....

- Credit card statement statement will be posted on the 9th - should have zero balance as it is all paid up.

- Cruise is on the 22nd

Will those pending points be available on the statement posting date?

What comes next? I read some posts about having to receive "certificates" in the mail?

Will the points transfer to the cruise by the 22nd?

Yes, the points are available after the billing cycle ends.

I think the minimum points for OBC is 5000- Don't think 1875 gets you anything

Thanks for pointing that out. I double checked and found I made a typo.

It was not 1875 points. It was 18875 points on one RCCL visa to get two rounds of bonus points. Bank of A had also made a mistake and sent me two different RCCL visa cards, and I just paid off the second card for another 18859 points.

So I have pending 37734 points. Billing cycle has not yet ended, so I can still spend on the card and pay off before the cycle ends for more points!

I'm in the middle of renovating a rental property I own and getting ready for next tenant, so I have been making a lot of trips to the hardware store on top of my normal spending.

So I should be able to get at least $350 in OBC on top of the OBC promised by my online cruise purchase (which was kinda nebulous as the promise for two balcony rooms after I had fully paid for the cruise was to register here and "you may be eligible for up to $1000 OBC!") So I registed well before the deadline.

I haven't yet seen anything transferred, so I'm not holding my breath. But $1350 in OBC would be nice for my first 4 night cruise.

Remember also that the OBC from Visa points is refundable, so don't feel like you have to spend it all. If you do have extra, go to Guest Services at the end of the cruise and get cash. Otherwise they will put the excess back on your credit card and you will lose that amount of double points.

Lol- my cruise is next June, I cashed in my points over a month ago, and still haven't gotten my OBC. If I don't see them in a month or so, I'm going to call... I want to use them to book my excursions way in advance :)

OBC from points is applied in order of cruise date, so it might be a while.

I think I read somewhere that I can cash in some OBC to use in the casino? Or can the casino use straight OBC?

Either way, if I have excess OBC of less than $500, I think I'll just consider as "found money" which I take as lucky cash to roll on a bet! ;-)

I'm a cheapskate, so I don't plan to spend much more than tips and wifi, so if excess is over $500, I'll take that as helping to reduce the cost of the trip and put back into savings.

You most likely won't see them posted until two or three weeks before you sail

You cannot directly cash in refundable OBC until the end of the cruise, nor can you directly use any kind of OBC in the casino. However, the casino cashier will give you a cash advance against your onboard account for a 5% fee.

BoA advised me not to redeem more than 2 weeks prior to cruise in the event I had to cancel. They told me I would not get my points/money returned if I had to cancel the cruise. I suggest you call BoA and make certain you understand their rules and procedures. I know some of their rules have changed since I received my original card.

Bill, you do not have to cash all of your points. I have about 27,000+ that I am carrying over and will use some for cruise in October 2017 and others for cruise in January 2018. Since I haven't had final pay yet, I will be adding additional points to my account.

On advice of friends, I now charge personal and household expenses on my card to build up points. Friends even charged their mortgage, insurance and other expenses and thus got free airling miles on their card. Being retired I have no business expenses to charge so have to look to other expenses to build up those points.

Thanks Grace.

This is my first cruise. Dragging my wife kicking and screaming as she doesn't like the idea of a cruise vacation, even a short one. Hoping she changes her mind. Otherwise it may be my last cruise for a while. So I may just cash out all points.

Also bringing my mother who has never cruised. She gets qeasy easily on car trips (but never actually sick) and air travel does not apeal to her. I was suprised last fall when I suggested a cruise and she said YES. Trying to get her out of the house and to eat more as she is over 80 and getting to the point she does not like eating much anymore. Very picky. Doctor says she is under-weight.

If my mom likes the cruise, I may take her on another one next year. Maybe to Europe as she has wanted to visit, but does not want to fly.

If you completely cancel the cruise, then yes you would lose your Visa Points. However, you can, if you are canceling a cruise, transfer those points to another already booked cruise so they would not be lost.
