happy cruzer Posted May 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2017 I noticed these on the Fun times. Morning stretch then Fab Abs. Is it no extra charge? Crowded? Music? How was the instructor? How would you describe the participants? Age, fitness level, atttire? Any advice or experience to share would be appreciated. Thanks.
riffatsea Posted May 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2017 Hi, It should say in the Fun Times if there is an extra charge. I have only gone to a yoga class and there was a $10 charge at that time a few years ago. I would say that anyone who gets up for a 7AM class will probably be in decent shape as they probably work out at home. "Attire" would be normal work out clothes so not sure what info you need about that?? I do my own stretching on board so cannot tell you about the stretch or Fab Abs class. happy cruzer Posted May 1, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted May 1, 2017 Still hoping to get more info. By attire, I wondered do people casual tshirts and shorts or do they go all out with specialised exercise clothes, or what?

riffatsea Posted May 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2017 I agree, Folks wear a variety of things, Nothing wrong with t shirt and shorts. I sometimes do that at my gym at home. Don't worry about what other folks wear. It is your vacation so be comfy!!
cruisemom67 Posted May 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 2, 2017 AHHHHHH.....I am going to say my only experience with the morning exercise at 7 a.m. is that we took a cruise for our honeymoon, and were RIGHT BELOW where they do the 7 a.m. exercise class. They sounded like 100 elephants! HAHA.
happy cruzer Posted May 2, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted May 2, 2017 100 Elephants :) So that says the classes are well attended. Hope to find out in a few months.
fitcruisecouple Posted May 2, 2017 #8 Share Posted May 2, 2017 We are gym rats and always bring our normal gym/workout clothes when we cruise. So she's usually in leggings and a sport bra and I'm in some sort of UA shorts and tank. yes, it justifies us eating all the crap we eat on the cruise lol. We don't drink but we do partake in the many desert options!
riffatsea Posted May 2, 2017 #9 Share Posted May 2, 2017 I would just like to share that although I am at the gym at home 3 X a week I don't often go on the ship. I manage to stay in shape by doing stairs instead of using the elevators!! I've lost 3 lbs on cruises just with stairs and then eating what I like for dinner but being healthier during the day. Rare crewsweeper Posted May 2, 2017 #10 Share Posted May 2, 2017 I'm usually at the gym on the ship just before 6A and not the first to arrive either. I don't take classes though. Spin classes are like mid morning or early afternoon and there's too many other things going on. The classes do seem to attract more women than men. And most are in "gym" attire; But I don't think you'll get shame faced wearing shorts and tees. Don't expect "Fab Abs" while on the ship but if they teach you good core routines and good form, could be worth the cost down the road. If they preach spot reduction and emphasize crunches and situps, leave immediately. And remember, short term weight loss is mostly water. Losing 2-3 lbs by just taking stairs means you either starved yourself by eating 1600 calories less a day than normal or climbing 200 flights of stairs a day.
bethshebas Posted October 3, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 3, 2017 I love fab abs classes! If you are into working out, DO IT Only had one "not so good" experience when the instructor decided to use that time to sell something to us. We all got up and left. Classes are free. Too early to be crowded. Usually get the same people there everyday so it's a good chance to make friends. Instructors change throughout the cruise. I like to go a little early and do some yoga, have the class then hit the track. I think it's a great way to start the day.
bmetz34 Posted October 3, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 3, 2017 I did the early morning stretch one day when I woke up earlier than every one else. It was ok. Three other ppl. I wore my sweats and tank top that I'd worn to bed. I was hoping it'd be in an open area with a view of the water but it was in a small closed room. The movement of the boat was still throwing me off a bit so i didn't love the feeling of trying to be still and balance.
