the Glory is wonderful, she felt brand new and although not comparable with the somewhat upper classy ship as the Vista, she is a warm and clean beauty and there is enough going on for your family and the kids to have a great time.

Our next cruise in on the Glory. Unfortunately, it's not until June of next year. :( We were excited when we found out it was getting freshened up in dry dock, but by the time we get there, all that fresh carpet & paint won't be so fresh anymore. That's ok, though, we'll still have a great time. We're taking some members of my wife's family this time. It'll be their first (only our 2nd) and we were happy to see that it got the WaterWorks.

Did never want to start a discussion or argue about tolerance but I only wanted to know what we did wrong booking this cruise and I know now Never book again during Spring Break (which we do'nt have in our country) We have sailed with Royal Caribbean and NCL Our most fun cruise was on the Vista TA with Mat as our CD second best CD was Eric here on the Glory so the fun teams of Carnival beats the other cruise lines( our personal opinion) but I need my sleep and want a dry chair when I eat and yes I do care about the ocean this is 2o17 how stupid can you be. We had youngsters at the TA cruise who were a little "over" excited... we did not mind I can get over excited. to sometimes ...I heard about a young man who fell over his balcony (he died instantly)he was intoxicated.... what a pity for him and his family so yes what is happening when people forget basic commen sence.

I must be blind because the incidents described by the OP have never been on my radar. Just like I've never had kids push all the buttons on the elevator, or seen them running, screaming, and knocking on doors in the hallways (not anytime, any ship).

 

Regardless of anything I still feel that people see what they want to see...if they are negative by nature anything outside of their comfort zone will impact them adversely, whether it be the actions of others or their own interpretations of activities. One solitary incident will drive them crazy...others of us will not even turn our heads since we are more involved with our own enjoyment then being fixated on the activities of others.

 

To say that Carnival is all about bottom feeding people is bizarre....uncouth people are everywhere no matter how much money they spend or what their "station" is in life. Perceiving one's self as "above" the norm is more of an indication of someone's "I'm better than the next person" and here is why attitude that seems to be prevalent on these boards.

You must lead a very charmed life! I have gotten into an empty elevator on a ship and all of the buttons were pushed. I have been awaken at night by kids knocking on doors. I have seen running and heard screaming, not just by kids. I have also seen adults sitting on the stairs, when there were empty chairs nearby. And smelled pot being smoked on the balcony next door.

 

Do these things ruin my cruise? Of course not. But these things do happen on Carnival and RC ships, and by and large, the cruise ships do little to stop it. At least RC has a curfew for minors, which helps. I have not witnessed any of the above on the Holland America or Celebrity ships I have sailed.

We've been on the Glory twice, once right after dry dock. Never seen any of the issues mentioned here, and got the room done 2x a day.

So I was looking at the Western Caribbean Glory cruise next March 24-31, which is the week before Easter and is Spring Break for most schools in Fla. so my 10 y.o. can go . . . I like the itinerary b/c it goes to Roatan and Belize, but I'm a little concerned now, not b/c of the party atmosphere (that won't bother me or my family at all) but things like walking in the buffet soaking wet, throwing cigarettes overboard, etc. are safety hazards. Last thing I want to do is slip and fall and be laid up in my room thanks to some inconsiderate @#$!%!*. I suppose that could happen anywhere but if Carnival is not going to stop it, it becomes a problem . . .

What bartender would serve an obviously underage child? Even I get carded and scrutinized by all the staff and I'm almost 30! I could pass as a teenager but still.

 

I'm the same way. I'm 32 but look at least 15+ years younger. I get quizzed all the time and always have to carry my ID with me. Although I find that on cruise ships, they tend not to ask for my ID. I think they can tell when they swipe your card if you're legal age or not. Most people assume I'm in my mid-teens and are stunned when I tell them how old I am. The things some people say and the looks I get sometimes can be pretty insulting (you should've heard the lady checking us in at the terminal for our last NCL cruise). I've been told I'll appreciate it later but I'm still waiting for that day to come, haha. This is what I was thinking about when I read that part of the review, maybe this person just looked a lot younger than he/she was. I'm sure there have been people on the cruises I've been on that were horrified when they saw the bartenders serving a "teenager" a drink whenever I gone up to the bar. It kinda makes me want to get my birthdate tattooed on my forehead, lol.

Unless I missed something, you should still be able to get twice a day service in your cabin. It is supposed to be an option, not just once a day. If your cabin steward refuses to do twice a day, you can call the housekeeping supervisor to complain and request twice a day.

On the first day housekeeping knocked on every door to make notes what people wanted morning or evening cleaning. We choose the morning and had a towel animal ,which was a little weard,after breakfast. the cruise compass was slibbed under the door (as in the mailbox it sometimes disapeared)

Again : we did not mind

Yes we are ftom Belgium speak normally Flemish we write "sigaret" iso "cigarette" and the young girl throwing it over board was from Holland so a Dutch girl (Flemish and Dutch is not the same)

You will appreciate it. I'll be 49 in 3 months and I still get proofed, and when people look at my ID they almost always say "no way". It's nice now - but it was a little annoying in my 30's when I had 3 young kids and I would get that look like "that poor stupid teenage mom" lol.

Casino : I saw a lady playing a slot machine with her child ( aprox 3 years old ) playing with toys under her chair, security asked her to leave after some guests started to complain. she said "no" and kept on playing, she left when people started starring at her.

Fun ? this was not funny anymore .....

 

I follow John Heald on Facebook and today he posted a complaint from a lady that she was asked to leave the casino while on the Glory, because she had her 4 year old daughter with her and she refused and that her daughter had already spent 4 hours in the kids club. I think it's the same lady..........

I could see a complaint if the passenger were actually forced out of the casino but it doesn't sound like that happened. I worked at a hardware store and had one customer come in complaining that his box of 500 nails only had 496, so I am aware what people can complain about.:)
