Central Park rooms

If there is no one over 21 registered in the room, no wine... and if no one over 18 registered in the room, no casino lesson

sorry...

I know.....and they will not substitute from what I understand:o. We also usually prefer OV balcony rooms but they were $200 more per cabin X 5 so we will deal with CP balconies.

Not True.

My 11 & 16 y/o kids got a bottle of wine in their room this past Spring Break...

This is another reason why we booked this as well for the perks... I think Sabors is listed as a restaurant as well. We are going there for the Guacamole

Good luck with that. We were on Oasis two weeks ago and Sabor ran out of avocados - so they served guac that came out of a bag.

Ah, the beauty of Cruise Critic post asking everyone about their subjective opinion on a topic.

But alas, I'll weigh in too.

We don't use a balcony to just sit and have total privacy/solitude. So, for us, an OV balcony just plain costs more than a CP balcony. So, we go with the less expensive.

We like sitting out on the balcony in the evening and listening to the musicians in the Park and doing some people watching. Yes, there is a bit of a reduction in privacy, but that is fixed by closing the drape/curtain. We don't consider that to be an issue, given the savings.

In the end, its personal preference, just as is any cabin selection. Understand the pros and cons, and make your choice. You may not really know until you try. But, remember, its still a cruise. Yippee!

How do they justify that? Seems irresponsible to even put a bottle of wine in a kid's stateroom. How much would it cost to offer substitute perks for kids?

I agree with the ambiance of CP. We never found it noisy or crowded. It was just a very pleasant venue.

We had an OV balcony on deck 8 and really enjoyed it but the CP balcony next cruise will be just fine.

They also come with extra amenities.

The new EAT • DRINK • PLAY complimentary amenities offer guests in Central Park balcony staterooms

Complimentary lunch for two at Giovanni's Table.

Complimentary bottle of red wine in your stateroom.

Private casino gaming lessons from an onboard expert.

Just curious: I booked a Boardwalk Balcony with a travel agency this past week and the Eat, Drink, Play was not mentioned. Is this something that you only get booking directly through RC or will they just put the vouchers and wine in all the staterooms before the cruise?

Why is it irresponsible? I thought it was great. Turns out the kids don't really like wine that much so they ended up giving it to us..

They do this for all those rooms automatically no matter whom you book through. I was unaware about it until we got to the room and found the wine & vouchers..

I had my first Central Park balcony on Allure last week. I usually have a OV balcony. But I liked it. So much so I booked the same room on Harmony. It reminded me of when I was a kid living in New York City. Sitting out at night. You don't have all the salt you get on a OV. In the morning I could watch the band playing on the pool deck. And as far as the privacy i was fine. You will be aware.

I sailed twice in an ocean view balcony that connected with my DD & DSIL's cabin. That was their choice, so I went along with it. DSIL is wheelchair bound, and he loved overlooking the ocean. I got rather easily bored with the water, especially at night. Also, on one of those trips, heading back to Florida, it was unbearably hot and sunny every afternoon.

I cruised once in an interior with my other DD. It was okay, but we fell in love with the Central Park balcony on our next cruise. We chose that again on both Oasis and Harmony, and are booked in future on Allure and Symphony in Central Park balconies - always on deck 10. Deck 10 is low enough to watch people walking through the park while sitting in our chairs, but high enough to not be completely visible to those who might look up.

Even on hot days, the balcony is in the direct sun for only an hour or two. I love looking out at all the greenery. At night there are twinkling lights in the trees, and live music most evenings. I have no interest in a Boardwalk balcony, but Central Park is a location we enjoy, at a price that is usually not much more than an interior. Someone else said it reminded them of living in NYC. I never lived in a big city, but that's what it feels like to me, in a neighborhood overlooking a quiet park.

It isn't usually as breezy as an ocean balcony, and we spent a lot of time out there playing Scrabble and cards, and reading. If my experience sounds delightful to you, you'll probably enjoy a Central Park balcony. The perks they added starting last November are an added bonus, and we haven't found privacy to be an issue. You really can't see much in the rooms across the way unless they have their lights on after dark with the drapes open.

Thank you so much for your reply. I love doing everything you mention and I am very excited about having a Central Park Balcony..... It sounds wonderful....

We had our first CP balcony a couple of months ago, and we enjoyed it. Still prefer an ocean view balcony, but it was a nice option. I was worried about it being too hot and the air kinda stagnant in there, but it was very comfortable and usually a breeze coming thru there too. Would certainly do it again.

Thank you I'm so glad you enjoyed it.. Yes we love our Oceanview Balconies too, but wanted to try something different since Carnival does not have Central Park Balconies only Oceanviews...

We almost always get an OV balcony but decided to try something new and book a Central Park Balcony on our upcoming Allure cruise in October. We also were able to benefit from the drastically low price, kids cruise free sale, and the added bonus of Eat/Drink/Play. I will try and remember to post back of our experience. We are looking forward to it.

firerecruit71295. Yes please do I would love to see anything I can and live through it seeing that we do not cruise until next December .(

Totally agreed with everything you mentioned above!

We booked the CP balcony for the first time on the Harmony TA last fall. I was so worried reading the reviews in here about lack of privacy and missing the view of the ocean etc. But as soon as we stepped onto the balcony and saw the central park and heard the music from the guitar and piano, we made a decision then and there to only book CP balcony on the Oasis class. We have a JS room booked on the Freedom TA this fall and I am not looking forward to having the ocean view balcony. It was so nice to be able to sit in the Central Park balcony at all hours, not dealing with the wind, rain or wet chair. Broadwalk balcony is more noisy than Central Park.

So glad you enjoy Central Park Balconies. I think we will not be disappointed...

For my wife and I, we have differing opinions with Central Park or neighborhood balconies. I prefer the ocean view balconies over the neighborhood balconies where my wife prefers the opposite. I like to be able to see where we are at and something different, as I feel like a bird in a cage with the neighborhood balconies. My wife loves to people watch so she spends much more time on that balcony than ocean view balcony.

To each their own.. :D

Your wife sounds like my kind of girl.. I love to people watch as well. Although my husband says he will like it as well. we will find out if he does or not.... I know he will enjoy the music on the balconies be cause he loves music and to hear it play from our balcony I feel will be a nice ROMANTIC touch ;)

We booked five CP balcony cabins for June 2018......two cabins are for teens. I am sure they will really enjoy the bottle of red and the casino lesson. Can I hold RCCL to actually give them the wine and lesson?

LOL.... I'm sure they will if they are honored with such....

I would avoid all Central Park and boardwalk balconies. My idea of vacation is not looking at cabins across from u. Little to no privacy. I go on a cruise to see the ocean not at a bunch of rooms and people.

Renza I guess to each their own. We will see if we enjoy them once we sail..
