Any Sign of Changes With The "Free At Sea" Offer?

Free at Sea change – opportunity for savings

We (4 of us - DW, 2 teen age granddaughters and myself) are booked (mid ship mini with balcony) on the Breakaway 9 Day Baltic sailing (7-16 June 2018). We always book directly with NCL. Our original booking was made on 19 December2016 for a total cost of $5755. Included in that package were 250 minutes of internet time and a dining package (3 meals for two of us) in specialty restaurants. We picked those “free at sea” options without much enthusiasm because there were offered and the most appealing of available choices.

Yesterday we noticed that a new “free at sea” option (free 3rd and 4th person) was applied to this sailing.

After a short friendly conversation with a very helpful agent we had changed our “free at sea” options and lowered the total cost ofour cruise to $4732, a saving of $1023. We lost the internet and dining packages but we received $240 on board credit and $50 excursion credits.

We realize that many may value the UBP, Dining Package, or other “free at sea” offerings and this may not appeal to them. We just wanted to let others who may be interested know.

We wish everyone fair winds and following seas.

We booked in Nov 2016 for Nov 2017 on the Escape.

Our TA knew we were looking to book and encouraged us book immediately as the options were changing. We selected DSC and UBP. Our friends were able to do 3/4th free.

Apparently the DSC option is offered a couple of times a year....and sure enough the day after we booked the options changed and DSC was gone. Thankful that our TA was on the ball!!

Yes, we always watch for our favorite promos to change to! The prepaid service charge (DSC) is a great one. We also got a good deal when they ran the free port fees and gov taxes. Let's hope they run something that good soon:cool:

Always like pre-paid service charges... and government fees, etc. The excursion credit is kind of a waste for us as we like to book those privately. Very curious to see what happens next as we just booked Australia/New Zealand in Jan 2018 and would love to tweak our reservation if things improved.
