JMCruising Posted June 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 8, 2017 My husband is very, "its vacation so lets wing it!" We do anytime dining and never commit to anything we see in the fun times. I really want to do the steakhouse, but don't want to reserve it too far ahead. Is it possible to walk up and see if they have room? Or perhaps a same day reservation? (We will be on the Conquest, if that matters.) Sent from my iPhone using Forums

We went on the first night, had reservations months in advance. It was so good we tried to go back a few nights later and was told they were booked solid for the whole rest of the cruise. I guess it just depends on the ship and particular cruise. Doesnt hurt to ask though :)
Djptcp Posted June 8, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2017 I make our Steakhouse reservations when I make the cruise reservation because we like to go the first night. I already have our reservation for our Dec. cruise on the Sunshine. Sometimes, we return for a second time and have not had trouble getting a reservation (Conquest). We also have the anytime dining, but prefer to eat early and get to the casino early:) Maybe it's more difficult to get a later reservation time. nhsails Posted June 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 8, 2017 First advice I got when decided on Magic, book steakhouse asap. Have it for 3 nights in December, 2 in Cuccina.
coevan Posted June 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2017 yes, make reservations. They have Steakhouse info tables all over the ship. You can look at menus, cuts of meat and the wine list. However, we have never seen the Steakhouse full. We have called the same day and no problem. We eat at least twice a week in the Steakhouse
sanmarcosman Posted June 9, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2017 In our experience most evenings you could fire a canon off in the steakhouse and not hit anyone. You should have no issues as walk-ins.

robin13 Posted June 9, 2017 #9 Share Posted June 9, 2017 Right after we board we go to the Steakhouse and make reservations for the first night. This was on The Freedom and they had no problem giving us a reservation. The only reason I do the first night is because I love the free bottle of wine. JohnSpo Posted June 9, 2017 #10 Share Posted June 9, 2017 In case you don't know it you can also make reservations on carnival.com/Manage/My Booking/Specialty Dining Reservations. You will get a confirmation email back from the steakhouse. This is a great option to make sure you get the exact day and time you want. I missed out once when I did not make an online reseveration because it sold out when there was a convention on board.
cb at sea Posted June 9, 2017 #11 Share Posted June 9, 2017 As long as you aren't particular about day or time, you will get in...no worries!

Florings Posted June 9, 2017 #13 Share Posted June 9, 2017 Splendor last autumn, we went the first night having made reservations at the time of booking the cruise. We wanted to go a second time, could not get in - booked solid the balance of the week! I asked to be put on a wait list - someone didn't show up on the last night, and they called and said if you can come now, we will seat you. We made it! So I would say reserve it to be on the safe side!
Floating Lanai Posted June 9, 2017 #14 Share Posted June 9, 2017 I have been denied request while on board due to no room. But that's only day before or same day. I usually get on board and look at the menu for the week then make my reservations on day 1. My next cruise I have already booked two nights in the steakhouse, it is better to have them just in case I think. You can always change.

Is that the only night they give you free wine or just if you make a reservation the first day? We were on the freedom last year and will sail again in September and I really want to try the steakhouse this time. I think I'll be able to convince my wife with free [emoji485] lol Sent from my iPhone using Forums
robin13 Posted June 9, 2017 #16 Share Posted June 9, 2017 You only get the free bottle of wine the first night. If you don't like the wine that they offer for free you can also buy a bottle on their wine list for 50% off. I usually drink Pinot Grigio but they didn't have that for free so I had the Chardonnay which I usually hate as it is too oaky for me but it was actually pretty good. You really need to try the Steakhouse as it is the best bargain on the ship. Where else can you get a quality steak dinner with appetizers and dessert for $30? Here in Dallas it would be a $100 meal. robin13 Posted June 9, 2017 #17 Share Posted June 9, 2017 Just wanted to clarify that I think the steakhouse is now $35 and not $30. I believe that it went up a couple of years ago. Still a great deal and you won't leave hungry.

prettybrowneyes Posted June 10, 2017 #19 Share Posted June 10, 2017 We sailed on the Magic last week. Prior to the cruise, I suggested we make reservations. DH said, "No, we should be fine." Fast forward to last Wednesday. I called to make reservations and was told they were booked for the remainder of the cruise. Luckily we overhead a couple in the elevator saying they were going to call for the following night. We waited 10 minutes and miraculously there was an available reservation. NavyEmt Posted June 10, 2017 #22 Share Posted June 10, 2017 Same day reservation can be kinda tricky, I tried to do it on my last cruise and could not. My wife and I dropped by the steakhouse 3 time on the day I wanted to go and there was no openings.
