Destaw71835 Posted June 12, 2017 #26 Share Posted June 12, 2017 Thanks for doing this, I'll be on this ship in September for the first time. It's good to know that VOOM works well. I was debating on whether to purchase or not. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

BearClaw28 Posted June 12, 2017 Author #28 Share Posted June 12, 2017 Got up late and just got into windjammer for lunch. Completely missed my family for breakfast at American Icon. I scored a seat by the window so I could finally watch the ocean and feel like I was on a cruise. Put my nalgene water bottle on the table and left for a minute to get food. Came back and some guy is sitting at my table. He says, "oh you were sitting here?" I just grabbed my bottle and sat at the table next to it but not at the window. Not in the mood for my first interaction of the day to be a fight. But people can be such inconsiderate idiots. Planning on checking out the pools and going to the gym this afternoon. Thanks to those who are following. I hope I'm being informative. If anyone has any questions or would like to see a pic of anything in particular I would be happy to help. BearClaw28 Posted June 12, 2017 Author #31 Share Posted June 12, 2017 Walked off lunch a little bit. While in windjammer they announced that a water pipe broke and there's limited water pressure until its fixed. Glad I showered before lunch. View from lunch. Turns out I am on a cruise. Full service Starbucks on Royal Promenade. On Air across from Starbucks. Not sure what goes on in there but there was a bar. Gym as you enter. Good amount of equipment in a large area. Free weights around the corner. Weight machines too. I was working out next to a bunch of the Mamma Mia cast including the woman who played the lead mother role. Didn't check out the spa. I'll probably do it on a port day and get a discount. Checked out the pools and deck 15 after working out. Very crowded. Almost slipped a few times wearing sneakers. Bring shoes with good grip and be careful. Also the floors tapered up near doorways. I almost tripped several times already. Here's the mini golf area. The end of the zip line and the sports court in the background. It's over looking the boardwalk in back of the ship. Yesterday was a lot muggier. Today is pretty much perfect. Going to dinner in an hour. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
NouCruzer Posted June 12, 2017 #33 Share Posted June 12, 2017 Thanks for taking the time to post this "kinda live" review. Seems live enough to me given that "kinda live" seems similar to saying that one is "kinda pregnant". :D Great photos. Look forward to hearing and seeing the rest of your cruise. Any excursions planned?

Any excursions planned? Yeah I wasn't sure how good the wifi was or if I'd take the time to post often but VOOM is working great and I'm enjoying doing it. Still going strong on day 2. Getting ready for first formal night. Dinner then the ice show. Then doing some 80's music trivia. Then gambling later. BearClaw28 Posted June 13, 2017 Author #37 Share Posted June 13, 2017 Ok I slacked off and need to update. We're in Labadee Haiti now. I've stayed on board to enjoy the empty ship. So nice and quiet. No lines for anything. But where was I? Oh yeah, dinner last night. It was the first formal night. It's a recommendation and you'll feel comfortable regardless of what you wear. I ordered the Bay Scallop Gratin the lobster bisque and the roasted duck The bay scallop is identical to escargots app, just scallop in place of snails. Like the escargots it need more garlic and salt but was good. Lobster bisque was very good. Duck was ok. It was a little stringy. And would have liked the skin a little crispier with fat rendered down a little more. Presentation was bad as picture shows. All accompaniments were covered by the duck. They were good too. BearClaw28 Posted June 13, 2017 Author #38 Share Posted June 13, 2017 Dessert menu I ordered the bittersweet chocolate soufflé. It was eh. First the sauce was cold and not much coffee flavor. Second the soufflé was a little dry. My nephew sitting next to me had the strip steak. No complaints from anybody who ate it. We had to rush to the Ice Show and were late so we had to sit on the far side. View was fine just had some poles obstructing parts. The theme of show is tying monopoly to areas of the ship. Convoluted but if you ignore that and focus on the skaters it was enjoyable. Ice is small so it was impressive how much they could do on it. After the show we went to Schooner bar to play 80's music Name That Tune. It was very easy. Got 15 out of 15 and won a bunch of Royal Caribbean pens. Rest of the night we hung out on promenade, got pizza at Sorrentos and I gambled a bit and lost. Went to bed early. Oh yeah, game 5 of the NBA Finals was on last night. They had it on in the cabin tvs, in On Air, the casino tv's and in the Ice Show venue, where I watched the last quarter. They didn't have the Stanley Cup Final the night before. Random thoughts: They have the day on the entrance of the elevators. You can order as many dishes or portions as you like. There's only one soft ice cream dispenser on the ship. It's in the Wipeout Cafe. It wasn't working correctly or perhaps it was overused and didn't have time to freeze properly because the ice cream was soupy. Rare JamesEM Posted June 14, 2017 #43 Share Posted June 14, 2017 When I was on the Allure 2 weeks ago there were 3 soft ice cream machines, each one had a different flavor.

They also have an ice cream parlor on the boardwalk near the carousel. It's $ but a medium was only $4. And it was good. BearClaw28 Posted June 15, 2017 Author #47 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Day 3 Finally found my way to the Solarium for breakfast. It was a very hot morning and it was already quite warm in the air conditioned cafe. Probably because it later and people were already leaving the ship for Labadee but my large group found seats pretty quickly in the small space. Solarium Cafe has a smaller buffet breakfast but it had more than enough choices. Took a few Solarium pics while I was there: Here are a few pics of Labadee: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BearClaw28 Posted June 15, 2017 Author #48 Share Posted June 15, 2017 I'm not a beach person so I planned on enjoying the day exploring the quiet ship. My cousin and nephew wanted to try the flow rider so I joined them. They're located on deck 15 in the rear of the ship, up some stairs behind the mini golf, zip line and sports court. There are two flow riders, one on each side of the ship. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
BearClaw28 Posted June 15, 2017 Author #49 Share Posted June 15, 2017 The rider on the port side is for stand up boarding. You have to be older or bigger to do this one. On the starboard side is the body boarding one. Here's a pic of my nephew wiping out: After that I sat by the pool and got some sun. No worries about chair hogs as I could have sat anywhere I wanted. It was so hot I only lasted 2 hours. Grabbed some lunch, walked around and took a nap. My cousins texted and told me they were back from the beach so I met them at the flow rider and zip line. The zip line runs from the body board flow rider level, across the boardwalk, to the mini golf area. Here's a pic of my cousin on zip line: From there we went to get ice cream down on the boardwalk. The ice cream parlor has Ben and Jerrys. For $2-4 it was great on a hot day. We walked to the amphitheater and my cousin and his son wanted to try the rock walk. Here they are climbing to the top. They were getting ready for some kind of show with Shrek and other characters in amphitheater. Didn't stay for it. Had to get showered up for dinner. BearClaw28 Posted June 15, 2017 Author #50 Share Posted June 15, 2017 Forgot to mention that the lines for the flow rider, zip line and rock climbing wall were so much shorter on port days. Ok dinner. Here are the menus: I ordered the: Roasted Garlic Soup Pretty good. I love garlic. Arancini Balls Pretty good. Risotto was cooked well. My cousin really liked them. Garlic Tiger Shrimp They were ok but it was really annoying that they were still in their shells. The first one and I had shells in my mouth. They also needed to be deturded. I asked for extra shrimp when I ordered and my waiter gave me a plate full. Here's a pic of the pork tenderloin: I didn't eat it but I heard good things.
