Smoking

Might be going cruising with my father who is a smoker. Where can he smoke on the boat? Can you smoke on the balconies?

No longer on the balconies. Each ship has several designated outdoor smoking areas. Not many any more though. And casino players can smoke in the casinos.

There are designated areas for smoking. Absolutely no smoking on balconies. Smoking in some area's of casino. Some ships have a cigar bar.

No smoking as stated in the balconies. The crew is supposed to be enforcing a fine for those that smoke in rooms or balconies, but I don't know how much this is done. There is normally a strong breeze into the room so smoking on the balcony will certainly get smoke in the room if the door is opened.

 

Depending on the ship, you can almost always smoke in the casino. Some decks (check the side as normally only one side is smoking) allow smoking on the outside promenades. Check for smoking signs and ashtrays. Also, on the pool deck in the Breakaway series of ships, there is a smoking area near the pool. There will be a place for your father to smoke. Just check when you get on the ship for the exact locations where smoking is allowed.

You can smoke in the casino IF YOU'RE PLAYING....you can't just use it as a smoking room! There are plenty of places to smoke. Look for ashtrays!

Smoking in designated areas on deck. No smoking in your room or on your balcony. Most people are pretty quick to call security when people try to sneak a cigarette. Then you spend time dealing with security trying to avoid the [expensive] room cleaning charges.

No, you can't just sit there and chain smoke, but you can enjoy a cigarette or two and no one will chase you out if you are not actively playing. Or you can sit at the casino bar(part of it at least is smoking) and order a drink or a soda and have your cig there. FYI, on most ships, Formal nights are no smoking at all in the casino. :)
