BOBfromNJ Posted July 2, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2017 On the Independence Day Cruise (for 2018) will you see more on the Port side or the Starboard side, seeing that you will be in 6 different ports. Thanks
champagne123 Posted July 2, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2017 As always, you have a 50/50 shot with either.
Rare cruisestitch Posted July 2, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 2, 2017 This is an unseerable question. We don't even know which ship you'll be on, how many tender ports you'll have, where in the world you'll be!?!
awhcruiser Posted July 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 2, 2017 Which ports?
champagne123 Posted July 2, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 2, 2017 It does not matter which ports. Port or Starboard is NEVER set in stone.
miched Posted July 2, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 2, 2017 It really doesn't matter as most times you dock before getting up or are at breakfast ( unless you get room service) . During the day you will be out and probably not in your cabin. Sail away will you will be getting ready for dinner or at dinner or somewhere else watching it. Sometimes it is better not having your cabin next to the pier as all you may see is another ship or dock facility. We were in NOLA for two nights and our cabin was facing the Mississippi River. It was nicer than being on the other side as we got to see the ships, barges and other river traffic. Like others said it depends on the port and there is no guarantee that you side always be on the "best" side Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌞
Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted July 2, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 2, 2017 There's just no guessing which way a captain will choose to dock. Sometimes they back in; sometimes they go in forward to the dock. You just won't know until the last minute. That is...if they dock at all. Sometimes they have to use tender boats in which case they won't dock at all. Because there is no certainty in this matter, choose port or starboard cabins for other reasons than which way your cabin will face in port. It does appear to be a 50/50 type of deal.
wallie5446 Posted July 3, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 3, 2017 And it also depends on what time of the day you dock. Most time you have to get up before dawn. Then you can also end up in a cargo area which has no view of interest.

There are a lot of ports that are not very "pretty". :o
casper106 Posted July 3, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 3, 2017 Doesn't matter. As others have said, some of the ports are cargo docks.
