Live Posting - Celebrity Summit 7/7

Recommended Posts

I will look into this... there is no free wifi and actually the wifi package went up an additional 50 bucks after we got on the ship. We have service (so just your normal texting charges) while in NYC and when we got to Newport. We did not have any service last night.

Thank you for checking! It would be nice if they had something like Royal Caribbean's app where you can text with the on ship free wifi.

I can totally relate to experiencing the difference first time on Celebrity after NCL cruise(s). Quick check-in; walking straight on without first being handed a number to go sit and wait to be called to board and then get in line again; sense of calm feeling when you board Celebrity. That sounds just like I was, totally amazed in a good way, and Summit was my first Celebrity too. The flip side of when we departed was equally night and day between the two, no long line ups of angry people fighting to get off.

Enjoy your cruise!!!!

Hey all!! Sorry for the delay!!! We were at sea yesterday and I was horribly sick. DH and I checked out the pool (good luck getting a seat) and we enjoyed the sites of Newport! As soon as that boat started to go, I got sick. It was the evening chic night. I got myself together enough to get dressed and do pictures but I couldn't sit at dinner. We did room service. :( Everyone did look lovely tho! Here are some pics of Newport: 4363729b20bc1f1d94e6ae0fb8ad710b.jpgd3c20fed994dad927a1a310b5ad7ae20.jpgf0f25f0d265478b617abad907bb62be6.jpg

Well today was Boston and we had a good time!! DH and I went over the the CVS pharmacy asap so I could get my patches for the rest of the trip!!!

We then hit up the JFK museum/library. It was beautiful and a nut see for all Kennedy fans. After that, we headed to Stingray tattoo and body piercing. I unfortunately lost my nose ring and needed to replace it. They were awesome!! Shout out to Brad for all of your piercing needs.

We then went to see Sh*tfaced Shakespeare at Laugh Boston. Super convenient to the ship and was decent. I always like a comedy show...maybe not Shakespeare tho. Check out who is coming when you are here. So close to the ship.

We are now off to Boston's Little Italy section for dinner. Stay tuned!! Attached are some pics of the day! 703a29b72e77cb134f9a5b5ee207a462.jpg11d0bdbe8198d5c7483586c5e4b6181a.jpg9feb1b8d851c12f2955d3ac094537d29.jpg02e7b9ef1728e34854d1cd789b6dfe31.jpg

Okay, we are back on the ship!! All in all Boston was fun. Nothing that we did I would recommend (unless you need a tattoo or piercing) but it was good to be off the ship. We will be on the high seas for the next two days!

So after Sh*tfaced Shakespeare DCH (added the C for cranky ;)) we heading to his friend's Italian recommendation. Listen, I lived in NJ for a long time....and have been to NYC and Philly. My DCH "knows a guy" who recommended Limoncello. First, the place claimed to close at 9 (when we called) and we arrived at 9:15 and it was PACKED. We did get a table and were expecting the best. We got the octopus carpaccio and meatballs to start. Eh. Give me a delish grilled octopus any day...and this wasn't it. DCH and I decided we should do fish so he got the lobster with squid ink pasta and I got the crab ravioli. It was fine. Def don't recommend. BUT, Little Italy was hopping!! We enjoyed an espresso at another local cafe while waiting for an uber...it beat the dinner.

So, def check out Boston...not sure you do anything that we did!!!

Getting back on the ship was easy and breezy and now enjoying a martini at the "silent disco". 8a5506946191781563eca5d132a3c238.jpg4fa1d4b0547369fe1e44067951552373.jpg3553db6ea5bace6fab29b20c9e3a0386.jpg2896ba4e9ac92efea9b169152395185d.jpgfe45f4cae05c93db1a5dc4bbfb492bb9.jpg

Really enjoying your reporting. Seems genuine and sarcastic -- totally me! We live in New England so I'm with you on Newport and Boston as ports. :). We will be on the Summit with tweens (and 2 8yos) in a few weeks so I'm glad (sorry) there are teens on board who seem to have things to do.

Hi all!!! We just got wifi again and will be posting like crazy!!!

A couple of notes: the cruise does draw an older crowd but I have to say there are a ton of events for kids!!! They show movies on the big screen outside, kid trivia and a teen dance party.

For some of you who like to have the same crew serve you dinner...it can be done even if you have select dining. We have had the same table and crew and they have been incredible!!

We have been at sea for the past two days. If anyone tends to get motion sickness, I would strongly recommend the patches. I think that since this is a smaller ship, you feel everything.

We really enjoyed a wine and food pairing class that we did yesterday. It was 29.50/person and it was totally worth it. We arrived to five glasses of wine and a plate of differ apps. They kept refilling the wine!! Would totally recommend this! Also, there is another class where you can make your own blend of wine and take bottles of your wine home with you! We may do that on the next sea day.

We did check out Bingo (I love it). It was kinda pricey. The choices for the packages are 49/59/69 dollars. We splurged for the 69 dollar one and made $1. The pay outs were low especially considering how many people paid. For each of the four games the payout was between 200-350. It was fun but expensive. Not sure we will play again.

We really have enjoyed the slot tourneys and karaoke every night!!

We are eating dinner earlier tonight because we are going on a boat tour to the Bermuda Triangle. We had no prob making reservation.

I owe you a lot of pics which I will add after this.

Also, we will post after the tour as long as we don't disappear in the Triangle!

Hi all! Back from a fun night in Bermuda. A few notes bc I fill you in on tonight!

- our concierge Marissa is the BOMB! She has answered questions for us, booked our dinner reservations and just today gave us a complimentary laundry coupon! She is the best!

Hit sent too fast!

- in concierge class, you have a pillow menu. DCH and I were all over that. We have a temp controlled pillow and body pillows. They are amazing. If you are in this class, you must do the pillows.

So DCH and I needed to do an early seating for dinner because our see-sighting cruise was at 8. We mentioned it last night about needing an earlier seating but said if it was a problem, we would grab something either at the buffet or room service. Not only were they able to give us a 5:15 seating in the MDR but we had the same seat! The service here has been incredible.

We have become tight with our sommelier and he has had us try all sorts of different wines. He was the one who recommended the wine and food tasting and the create your own blend class. During dinner, he reminded us about the blending class and asked us if we would like to do it. He ran and got us the details. Once we booked with him, as a thank you,he gave us a bottle of Wente Cab Which we loved at the tasting. DCH and I believe that he does get a bonus for signing people up, so please do your wine classes thru your sommelier.

After dinner, we got off of the boat to join the sightseeing tour. This is a MUST DO when you are in Bermuda. Kevin and Slim were our tour guides and they were so informative and funny. We got a historical tour of the area, then got to check out the coral reef in the glass bottom. We heard the stories of the Bermuda Triangle and saw a shipwreck. The tour was beautiful and very reasonable in terms of excursions. We paid $65./person. It was a great time!

After the boat tour, we walked around to check out the sights and had a drink at the Frog and Onion. It was a cute British Pub. DCH wanted a souvenir glass and the bartender was lovely.

Side note: we are docked with NCL Breakaway. While at the pub a woman from that ship was complaining about why anyone would drink there since the pub doesn't accept the boat's drink package. Not sure if she was drunk or just being obnoxious but she grew more angry and loud. When her group left, we noticed that they left the bartender with a dollar tip. Side note: bars in Bermuda do not accept your ship's drink package, even if you went with the premium package! :)

We came back to the boat to make it an early night. We are going to Elbow Beach in the morning. We booked this adventure on our own through resortsfortheday.com. We will need to find our own way there (side note: we saw tonight that a taxi one way to Elbow Beach is $43!) but once there we get chairs, umbrella and water. If you are interested in doing this, check around on prices. The ship has an excursion to another beach tomorrow for about $165/person. That gets you to the beach, chairs, umbrella and lunch. So with the $69 we spent, even with the taxi cost, it's cheaper than the ship. Also, it seems that the resort only offers so many tickets for their beach for the day...so they sell out fast.

DCH just came back to the room with a nightcap. Boy, they do a nice pour! I swear he came back with the bottle of jack!

Pictures added of tonight. Will share more after the beach tomorrow!!!!70e703495126338941af6af20a88b65a.jpg662e7df94a0488fda6036f05bf557848.jpg809c7b124adc18bc63b831f4a71abdf5.jpg5e2cae71c3ceb9aad7c99e44f7ddc941.jpgf601c4785b0245fc3856e3d16df3e66d.jpg

I am on this cruise and DH and I felt no motion at all. We even commented on how smooth the seas were.
