thedbs999 Posted July 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2017 I've been on other cruise ships and there always seems to be what they call a formal night for dinner. I've never sailed on Norwegian. Does anyone know if there will be a night or nights where one has to put on a coat and tie for dinner???
deliver42 Posted July 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2017 NCL has formal or not nights. There aren't any nights where formal attire is required. A collared shirt and nice pants will do fine.
wizdiz Posted July 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Never ever need a coat and tie on NCL.
ColinIllinois Posted July 11, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Look in the Frequently Asked Questions section of NCL.com to see what the dress code is. Lots of good information for Newbies in the FAQ's.
MaineYachtClub Posted July 11, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 11, 2017 But if you like dressing up, you can do that, too. You will see men in sports coats and ladies in nice dresses. It is all up to you.
tgloersen Posted July 11, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Just off the June 10 cruise on Escape, absolutely no designated formal nights. Come as you are, you will find variety but they do not make suggestions.
mimosas123 Posted July 11, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 11, 2017 Just off Escape 7/1 and we never dressed up. My husband wore pants one night to Bayamo, but shorts every other night. I wore sandals every night. It was great! We're never going back to formal nights. lol
barb65 Posted July 11, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 11, 2017 We did the Escape western Caribbean in June. The second night of the cruise was called "dress up or not" night. The majority of the people DID NOT dress up. That's the beauty of freestyle cruising. Your choice.
SoCA6ft5 Posted July 11, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 11, 2017 The "dress up or not" night allows you to get all-gussied-up for photos, for which there will be several locations set up on board that night. But, as others have said, there is no night you will feel out of place w/o coat and tie.
Rare BirdTravels Posted July 12, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 12, 2017 I've been on other cruise ships and there always seems to be what they call a formal night for dinner. Shorts are actually allowed in all restaurants except the Le Bistro and Bayamo specialty dining venues. There are those who will wear shorts every night. Most people dress up as though they were going out to dinner. Summer dress. Men with long pants and a polo shirt or Hawaiian shirt. There will be photographers out nights 2-6 with backdrops set up throughout the ship for you to take those dinner photos.
