ROYALBOY Posted July 31, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Was watching the Key West cam and the Equinox pulled in all the mooring lines, then a storm can in and put out all the lines again. SHe is still there. I guess the pier is better than sailing right now with our weather today. Sent from my iPad using Forums
musik07 Posted July 31, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 31, 2017 Onboard right now at dinner. The captain just made an announcement that the pilot is onboard and monitoring conditions and looking for a safe window for us to leave due to high winds. As of now we are told it will not affect our arrival to Costa Maya.
masscruiser2010 Posted August 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Is Equinox using the close in Mallory pier, or stuck way out there on the Navy Base?
musik07 Posted August 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 1, 2017 We are close to Mallory Square. Staying overnight because they won't let us leave in the dark. No port security so we are on the ship only. They still told us we will make it to Costa Maya on time.
kendon Posted August 1, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2017 I see the ships position on sea-scanner.com. No port security? That's comforting...wow. In times of nefarious acitivities, that's not a good thing.
FastandFurious Posted August 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Whoopie the shops and the casino are closed. My lovely wife is reading a book instead. What a great money saving situation. ROYALBOY Posted August 1, 2017 Author #10 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Not good to be stranded, but it did make a nice pic last night off the Key West cam[emoji924][emoji924][emoji924] Sent from my iPad using Forums

Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted August 2, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 2, 2017 We were in Key West during the fun Tropical Storm Emily. We could see Equinox from our hotel room and observed it leave Key West about 7:00AM on Tuesday morning. I had no idea there wasn't port security at night. What a pity the passengers couldn't enjoy the night in Key West. The weather was perfect once Emily blew through. We went out for a walk and saw lots of folks out on Duval and thereabouts. JaniceB Posted August 3, 2017 #14 Share Posted August 3, 2017 That is sad that they could not enjoy Key West at night.
musik07 Posted August 3, 2017 #15 Share Posted August 3, 2017 From our cabin we could see one officer at the little gate. They said there was not enough to monitor passengers who n and off. At the Elite happy hour we spoke to an officer who said there were 50 knot winds offshore during the evening which was why it was unsafe to leave. He also said it is usually not allowed for a ship to stay at that port because it blocks the sunset for the hotels right there and they were given special permission. However, there wasn't much of a sunset to see that night anyway!! We then went full speed during the evening and overnight to make it into Costa Maya in time! Great weather since!!
