Recommended Posts

i have actually cruised quite a bit and thought I understood drink package. I thought both people in cabin had to purchase it. I thought this was the case on all cruise lines.so...on royal would both adults in cabin have to purchase drink package ....thanks

That is not the case on RCI at the moment, except for a few Harmony sailings where they seem to be "testing" bringing back the policy of requiring both cabinmates to purchase the package.

I am guessing they went back to having both adults purchasing the package, I was online looking for our January cruise and both of us have to purchase the package. I now need to decide if it would be worth it.
That is correct, they have gone back to all adults most purchase it, though it looks to be pretty straight forward to get an exemption if somebody doesn't drink

For the first week or so they were granting exceptions for a number of reasons and allowing just one to purchase. Since then they have allowed one to purchase only if the other person in the cabin purchases the refreshment package.

Sorry to hijack. With drink package online you can purchase for a discount before the cruise plus taxes. So when you board the ship you pay normal price but what about taxes? And can you still purchase the package the next day instead of first day? Its a seven day cruise btw.

You still pay gratuities (18%) on the cost of the package if purchased on board. You can purchase it on the second and subsequent days of the cruise paying the per day price for all remaining days of the cruise. There has to be at least 3 days remaining to purchase the package.
