Formal nights

This might seem like a really stupid question but what is the dress code for formal nights - by that I mean, is it strictly suit and ties for the men or can it be a really nice button-up shirt with dressy slacks? The reason I am asking is because we have two young adults (in their 20s) travelling with us who are into the jeans, shorts and khakis and are making a fuss about the formal nights... So just wondering !

It's not a stupid question at all. The dress code on RCI has definitely relaxed in recent years. From reading the posts on these boards and my personal observation, you will see every kind of dress on Formal Night and every night of your cruise. The "dress code" is formal (per the link provided above) but it is inconsistently enforced. Many passengers do take the opportunity to dress up plus you can have your picture taken by the ship's photographer, and you only pay for the ones you like. :)

Having said that, personally, I would not wear shorts to the dining room on Formal Night but some do. Members in your group can dress for dinner and change into more casual clothes for the rest of the evening.

As well, I noted from your previous posts that you have not yet posted on the Royal Caribbean board. This board here is more for general questions, but there is a dedicated forum where you can read and research to your heart's content. Here is that link:

Thank you Karen... will go and read up... I am so excited to be going on our first cruise - my sons not so much :(

Well...they will change their minds the second they step on the ship. You picked the best ship ever for a first cruise!!!️⛴

Tell your kids that they dress for a nice dinner or they can go fend for themselves at the buffet - a collared shirt and clean khakis is not that difficult to wear for a couple of hours twice on a cruise......
