gottaluvcruises12 Posted August 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2017 What is the deal with Splendor's layout that everyone is complaining about? Going on her in 34 days and want to be prepared...the stairs, elevators....fill me in
teknoge3k Posted August 11, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2017 I loved the Splendor and didn't have any issue with the layout. Not sure what people disliked, but then again people complain about everything.
jayscore Posted August 11, 2017 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Maybe try going to cruisedeckplans.com and check it out. I didn't find Splendor much different to any Conquest class ships.....
garypolton Posted August 11, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2017 People complain about that only a few decks stretch from the front to the back of the ship. Meaning some floors are cut off with the dining areas... I was on it and didn't dislike it at all. Just had to know what floor to walk down then take a stairway to your dinning area.... Cruiseman38 Posted August 11, 2017 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2017 No clue. Just off her at the beginning of July and had no issues. Felt it was the same layout as Glory.
SadieN Posted August 11, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2017 She's a bit wider than the Conquest. Her Lido deck pool area is more enclosed than the Conquest's cantilevered one. Sailed the Splendor several times. The two ships are so similar than DH thought he'd been on Conquest when he boarded for our only cruise on her. Somehow he didn't realize the decor was different, lol Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Haven't been on Splendor yet; going in February. But I found a similar thing on my last cruise on the Grand Princess. And sure it's annoying at first, but you get used to it after a couple days. Is this the only thing they complain about on the Splendor?
martinchem Posted August 11, 2017 #8 Share Posted August 11, 2017 No problem. Perfect ship.
SMSACE6 Posted August 11, 2017 #9 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Yes, just what SadieN said. Very much like conquest class ships, except for those noted differences. I loved the aft pool area. Very nice and open. Also the the mid pool while different from Conquest class was certainly fine with me too. I really liked the ship, and would love to sail on her again, though I will not likely get the chance now that she will eventually go to P and O. Very nice ship though. Ocean Dancer Posted August 11, 2017 #10 Share Posted August 11, 2017 We sailed on Splendor for 7 weeks when we went around the Horn in 2013. She was originally commissioned for MSC, another company owned by Carnival. Carnival took over the build, so she is a bit different. If you like pink and Nancy Drew novels, you'll love her. funinthesun1964 Posted August 11, 2017 #12 Share Posted August 11, 2017 It is very similar to the Conquest class ships. A tiny bit bigger. As someone said previously, the main pool on lido is more enclosed and you will see flowery hanging baskets out there...kind of cool. The layout though is similar with the cabins on the same decks, promenade on deck 5, casino there, comedy club aft, theater forward, etc. If you've been on any of the Conquest class ships, you will easily find your way around. SMSACE6 Posted August 11, 2017 #13 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Ok I'm dumb. What's P & O? LOL, no way dumb! good question, and I have no idea what P and O stands for LOL, but it is another cruise line within the Carnival corporation, and Splendor has been rerouted to them for the year 2019 ? I believe.

Rare Essiesmom Posted August 11, 2017 #16 Share Posted August 11, 2017 Couple of corrections here...P&O are the Peninsular and Oriental Steamship Company, now just known as P&O, although they were P&O/Princess at the time Carnival purchased them in 2002. They sail in/from Europe, and have the P&O-Australia branch, which gets the hand-me-down ships from other Carnival brands. And Splendor was originally destined for Costa, but Carnival corp. needed her more for the Carnival brand, which is why she is just a bit different. I think she would have been Concordia class. NautiGirlGA Posted August 11, 2017 #17 Share Posted August 11, 2017 No problems that I'm aware of. The layout is a little different, but I liked having something a little bit different. As for the roaches somebody else mentioned, that's just somebody trying to start issues that don't exist. Definitely wasn't an issue. I think you'll have a great time if you choose to. ;)
SMSACE6 Posted August 11, 2017 #18 Share Posted August 11, 2017 If there were roaches, believe me, they would have found me ! I saw none of them last September, and agree with the previous poster. If there were roaches we would have heard much more about it.

SMSACE6 Posted August 11, 2017 #20 Share Posted August 11, 2017 there is pink, but not in your face pink! (but I like pink), actually I like color in general. but the pink did not stand out to me, like others seem to cringe about. When I was to go on Victory, I kept reading about how much green there was, but again, I saw green, but not too much of it for me. I like color, and probably why I have liked the decor on the Carnival ships that I have been on.
Cyber Kat Posted August 12, 2017 #21 Share Posted August 12, 2017 We liked the Splendor. Yes key to the layout is that decks 5 and 6 do not go now to stern. The midship MDR block those decks. Any other deck is the way to go Sent from my iPod touch using Forums

lucky13elec Posted August 12, 2017 #24 Share Posted August 12, 2017 On the Splendor in November. What caught my eye was She is the sister ship to the Costa Concrdia.

Yes the first time I cruised on her I got turned around so many times becuz of deck 5 & 6. Took me about 4 days to figure out how to get to the MDR. The pink was a bit much for me. I call them pink donuts. I also like the fact that it has a retractable roof.
