Misplaced Texan Posted September 6, 2017 #476 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Interesting time right now. The regional models (HMON and HWRF) are have shifted right and now predict a landfall pretty much the center of SFL. GFS continues to lead the predictions eastward and now shows the eye missing mainland FL. The Euro model is westerly and shows a Naples landfall and then diagonal crossing of the state. It will be interesting to see what the 0Z Euro and GFS runs bring us and whether Euro shifts right, GFS comes back to the middle, or they continue to diverge. perditax Posted September 6, 2017 #477 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Agree with u....who was the storm chaser we followed during Harvey? Any webcam links to the carribean islands being impacted? I can't find any worth a hoot, they are all at the level of Mr fleet... Anguilla shut down their power and took down the cell towers (intentionally). Jordan's Mom Posted September 6, 2017 #482 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Captain just made an announcement on the Adventure that rather than leaving Aruba tomorrow and getting to St Kitts Friday, we are going to Bonaire Thursday then at sea Friday back to San Juan. I watched hours of his feed live on that Friday night, and came to two conclusions: 1) That I was possibly about to watch someone choose to die live on the internet. 2) That if I were his wife, the divorce papers would have been in the mail the next day after that one phone call. lbjen Posted September 6, 2017 #488 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Van Fleet said the other day that he doesn't cancel cruises, he just advises the company. It's not his call. People should take some comfort in the fact that RC's head office is right in the middle of all this so they can't really ignore the fact that this is serious. I felt like they weren't really familiar enough with Houston weather, or the logistics of how cruisers get to port to understand how Harvey would impact passengers, which was why they made the decisions they did. spleenstomper Posted September 6, 2017 #489 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Jeff and co saved that wal mart trucker's life most likely. That was too stressful and nerve-wracking. I hear his Moore, OK tornado chase was much worse.

I'm admittedly not following this week's cruise news well, but I thought RC already did cancel a few.
Ken at the beach Posted September 6, 2017 #491 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Just heard Disney have cancelled three cruises - wonder if RCI will follow suit? Both EN and MJ cruises leaving on Friday have been cancelled. Harmony has already been confirmed that it will be at least a day late arriving to port for her scheduled turn around day. AshleyDillo Posted September 6, 2017 #492 Share Posted September 6, 2017 I should say larger than Ohio. ** Florida is 160 miles wide at its widest point. Pensacola to Jacksonville across I-10 is about 350 miles. But the panhandle isn't really Florida, I suppose ;) Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk

Misplaced Texan Posted September 6, 2017 #496 Share Posted September 6, 2017 Interesting tidbit, the first 9/6 00Z models to be released (the three Trajectory and Beta models and some of the consensus models) are all showing big right shifts. That, along with the slow slide of GFS eastward, might be further evidence that the ridge that has been holding this down is weakening and it might escape east of FL. Euro and the official NHC forecast aren't there yet, but it's at least an encouraging sign for FL.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums Says a lot. NCL has been penny pinching, raising costs and cutting back on the product and compensation for the crew contracts, so I'm a bit surprised. I'm hoping RCI follows suit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
