iBrandon3 Posted September 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2017 This will be my first cruise out of NOLA. Where is the best parking? I have only found a couple of choices other than the official port parking. TIA. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
mdsgu Posted September 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 9, 2017 Port parking is a nice multi-level garage and very convenient. Some hotels will allow you to park with them if you stay the night before your cruise.
Rare Saint Greg Posted September 9, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 9, 2017 Fulton Garage. Cheaper than the port. They load your bags on shuttle. Drop you off by the port entrance. Porter is there to grab your bags. Shuttle is there when you get back. I'm using them for a 5th time on monday. http://www.neworleansparking.com
Rare Saint Greg Posted September 9, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 9, 2017 This is the other one people have talked about. I've never used it. It costs more then Fulton but they get good reviews. http://www.machupicchutours.com/cruise-ship-parking
amydresh Posted September 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 9, 2017 We used Machu Picchu and we were very happy with them. When I checked Fulton and MP, MP came in cheaper for covered parking. They load your bags into the shuttle and drop you off right by the porters. They pick you up quickly and again, load your bags for you. Very friendly people! Rare Saint Greg Posted September 9, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 9, 2017 For covered parking Machu Picchu is actually quite a bit less than Fulton. That's not true. I have an email from Angel at Machu Picchu quoting me a total of $80 for my 5-day cruise on monday. I paid $61 for rooftop at Fulton. Covered at Fulton would be $72. bobsfamily Posted September 9, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 9, 2017 Having just finished a cruise from NO (Triumph) recently I would use the parking at the port. Might be a bit more but safe and very convenient,
GlamorousGirl Posted September 9, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 9, 2017 Just a quick warning to anyone else who is Diamond with Total Rewards, which includes a "free parking" perk... New Orleans Harrah's is different than every other Total Rewards casino I've ever been to. In all the others, you did not have to get a ticket going in, just pay (nothing for Diamond) going out. Your ADT would only be calculated for the one day. But at Harrah's New Orleans, you must take a ticket going in so they know exactly how many days you parked (and played or didn't play!) I parked at Harrah's and took a cab to port for $16 plus tip each way. I played in Harrah's before I left with the car, but I would have taken a hit to my ADT for 4 days had I given them the ticket, so I ended up sucking up the $75 "lost ticket fee." Still less than most of the parking in the area, so it wasn't the end of the world, but I just wanted to warn others before they get a nasty surprise like I did! amydresh Posted September 9, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 9, 2017 That's not true. I have an email from Angel at Machu Picchu quoting me a total of $80 for my 5-day cruise on monday. I paid $61 for rooftop at Fulton. Covered at Fulton would be $72. I did quotes on both sites before I posted. MP charges $14 a day for covered parking. Fulton doesn't even have covered parking for cruise ship passengers but their covered parking for the same time frame of a 7 day cruise was over $20 more than what MP charges. You clearly know nothing about Fulton garage. It's a large parking garage with tons of covered parking and it's almost all cruisers. You won't get the full MP quote unless you email them. The website said $70 but It doesn't list taxes and fees like Fulton does so emailed to see if there were hidden fees and there were. Below are my Fulton quotes and my email from angel at MP. cruisinmeme Posted September 10, 2017 #12 Share Posted September 10, 2017 When we cruise carnival we use rhe port parking. Saving a few bucks is not worth parking elsewhere. Hope on elevator and go down to check in. When we cruise NCL we always have used Fulton. I never pay ahead. It is crazy how they charge when I have gone to web site. We drive up and pay at the garage. I will say we have had easy experience there and some on the border of nightmare. More than once the waiting are for the shuttle to get to the port was so jammed we ended up walking, luggage and all. Once the shuttle could not get us to port (traffic) so they unloaded us and we walked the rest of the way. The last time we encountered a bully that was wild and violent . The main reason we used Fulton when cruising NCL is I like the indoor parking and the savings was nice. We may just bite the bullet and park outdoors next time. Fulton has gotten more and more busy so it is a zoo. The last time we were there e place was full of people. People that needed to use the restroom had to chase down the person with the key to unlock the door. Lots of people running around about t pee the self.lol Again hands down if we travel carnival we use port parking. To darn easy.

lennythenose Posted September 10, 2017 #14 Share Posted September 10, 2017 We too always use the port parking in NOLA. Super easy and I felt the convenience was worth the price difference (and I'm the world's most frugal person!).

We loved Machu Picchu and it is not crowded at all, they aren't even big enough for more than 20ish cars inside. They were super fast picking us up and dropping us off right in front of the porters so we only had to walk a short a distance with our bags. Their service was wonderful and even if it may end up being a little bit more than Fulton, it definitely sounds like it is worth it!
