Rare LHT28 Posted September 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2017 We are arriving into MIA about 9:30 PM & staying Brickell area question... do the taxis charge a surcharge for late night services ? Still debating whether to just stay close to airport or not TIA
JohninDC Posted September 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 20, 2017 Nope - and 9:30 is not late in Miami. Fare should be $25+ or you can uber for about $15+ If you are thinking about dinner, drinks, etc. after check-in then choose a downtown hotel; if you just want a room and a bed after arriving, then an airport hotel will be okay (Blue Lagoon hotels are often suggested and there is a local strip mall nearby (across the street from the Hampton Inn) for last minute items). Have a great cruise!
Rare LHT28 Posted September 20, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted September 20, 2017 Thanks We have the Hampton Inn booked & by the time we get there it will be time to crash ;)
Rare Keith1010 Posted September 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2017 Hampton Inn is a good location. You can enjoy the breakfast the next morning. I would take Uber the following morning to the port. Drive will be around 20 minutes. It's about 2 miles but you can have some traffic. Rare LHT28 Posted September 21, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted September 21, 2017 Thanks we have stayed at Hampton Inn before several times the taxi fare is usually in the $30 range
Flymia Posted September 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2017 Thanks we have stayed at Hampton Inn before several times the taxi fare is usually in the $30 range Yep. You can save a little bit using an Uber if you want. Same for heading to the port. Uber will always be cheaper than a taxi. And while I have noticed Uber service going down a bit, its still a lot nicer than a taxi down here and the cars are almost always newer, more comfortable and safer. Rare LHT28 Posted September 21, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted September 21, 2017 you probably need a cell phone for UBER correct ?? Some of us dinosaurs in Canada do not have cell phones with service outside Canada ;)
JohninDC Posted September 21, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 21, 2017 Yup - you need a cell phone (actually a "smart" phone) to make Uber work.
