Please forgive me BUT is DSC and my prepaid gratuities the same thing?

I’m so confused. I already paid $378 few days ago to prepay gratuities on my NCL account.

 

Is this same thing as DSC?

 

I’m so lost in all your acronyms.

 

I just want to walk on the boat with zero owed.

 

Why do so many talk about not paying DSC? It doesn’t appear there is any option to “opt out”. (Not that I would, just curious!)

On the website, it says:

Pre-Pay Service Charges

 

If that is what you paid, then you pre-paid the DSC.

NCL uses both terms in various places, but some on CC assert that they aren't the same thing. Therefore ---confusion

 

NCL does allow you to submit a form to request reimbursement of the DSC.

The service desk will give you the form

Recently, some posters have said they got the charges removed while on the ship, but NCL says they wI'll mail it to you after the cruise.

I read on another website that the service desk advised a guest to remove the DSC to resolve a complaint.

Do you have Beverage package and/or Specialty dining as "free" perk? If so the prepaid gratuity is that service charge and not the DSC.

 

Go to your account on MyNCL, click on Vacation Summary, scroll down to the rectangular boxes. To the right of pre-pay service charges, click on the + sign. The box will open and show whether or not you have prepaid your DSC service charges.

Ask NCL for your Amenities Confirmation. That will tell you your position.

You can also look at the invoice you received after prepaying the service charge. If the DSC has been prepaid there will be a code in the upper right corner that says PPSRVCHG.

Yeah, no idea why they (not just NCL) need to use multiple names for the same thing.
