Griff61 Posted October 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2017 Hello all you very informative people. I am booked on Freedom with an aft balcony on deck 7. With reading CC's latest email about UpGrades it got me thinking and curious. I'm not thinking of switching , but what would an upgrade be from my stateroom location ? Has anyone ever been upgraded from there ? I know aft balconies are very popular but wondered what it would take most people to move to a supposedly upgrade from aft balcony. What have you heard ? :p:p
Palmetto Pilot Posted October 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2017 I guess it's all a personal preference. I don't care for aft balconies so I'd consider a midships suite or even a bigger/spa balcony a nice upgrade.
peajay84 Posted October 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2017 I'd have to be offered an Aft Wrap for it to be considered an upgrade from Aft Extended Balcony. Or maybe a Scenic Oceanview. Those cabins have an awesome view too!
winsmark Posted October 13, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2017 Couple of years ago I had a Aft balcony and was offered an Ocean Suite for $300 bucks for a 7 day cruise on the Sunshine. Took the upgrade and was well worth the $300 bucks.
mafiadon Posted October 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 13, 2017 I love aft balcony cabins so unless the upgrade was to a wrap balcony aft I wouldn't take it
jayscore Posted October 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 13, 2017 This "aft rat" would only "upgrade" to an aft wrap or 8450 0r '57. Definitely to a Vista suite on Spirit class ships. Some hate the sun and lack of breeze, which I do understand, though.;)
pe4all Posted October 13, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 13, 2017 I have gotten several of those upgrade emails for my January Glory cruise. I have one of the L-shaped cabins with the "bowling ball" balcony. When I book I always make sure I pick a cabin I am happy with. Unless they gave me a free upgrade to a Grand Suite or Owner's suite for free, I will save the money for an upgrade and enjoy my booked cabin! grest Posted October 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2017 We were on the Freedom in an aft cabin several years ago....became addicted to the aft, so unless it was an upgrade to aft wrap, I don't think I would do it...maybe not even then... I don't care for aft balconies so I'd consider a midships suite or even a bigger/spa balcony a nice upgrade. Same here. We did an aft wrap one time. Didnt like being exposed to higher decks. No breeze, little shade, little privacy. Great for some, not for us, and not an upgrade in my eyes.

We also have gotten the call for upgrades when we have this type of balcony booked. There is no way I would trade the L-shaped for any other cabin, absolutely love them! We've had them on Sunshine, Conquest, & Magic, they just get booked so quickly. :')
