Auto gratuity on PYOB

Currently on the glory and was curious why they add a 15% gratuity on beers dispensed from a pour your own beer machine. (The online receipt on the hub app even lists it as a line item “tip”) I grab a cup, swipe my card and pour my own beer. Other than restocking the plastic cups and changing the kegs what service is being provided. It certainly won’t break me and I tip the bartenders above the 15% but something about this is irritating.

Is there a way to eliminate the tip? Nothing they are doing with this seems to warrant tipping

I guess someone has to refill the keg. 50 beers in a keg, 1.50 tip a on a beer. 75 bucks a keg. Sign me up.

They charge it because they can and no one will do anything about it. Self-service doesn't warrant a tip to a company for service...

1984 ounces per keg. PYOB sold at 29 cents per ounce. Carnival sells the keg for 575.36 and gets another $86.30 in tips off it.

 

$661.64 per keg total revenue.

Hey I was not that far off given that there is usually waste at the beginning and end of the keg and I had no idea there was a price difference in PYOB and bottles.

 

Didn’t have this on Dream or Legend which we sailed most recently. Looking forward to finding it on the Breeze.

Just off Breeze, and they had Red Frog PYOB, $4 for 14 ounces. No tip added. Best beer deal on the ship (Just slightly better than the Fosters Oil can).

There was no tip added on Breeze last week and mini fridges were empty.
