bowlman23 Posted October 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 17, 2017 Do you think Carnival will follow suit? I'm scheduled to go on Sunshine Dec 1st and St. Maarten and San Juan were on the original itinerary, but were replaced with Amber Cove. Any chance carnival puts these back on? joepeka Posted October 17, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 17, 2017 I got the same email and they also included St. Thomas as another port they expected to return to by Dec. 1st. I haven't seen any similar notices from Carnival, perhaps others have.
riclop Posted October 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 18, 2017 Hopefully it will hold.
jeffjeffjeffjeff Posted October 18, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 18, 2017 the islands themselves have said they will be back "open for business" by the mid of November so I do not think this is unrealistic.
aztekpm Posted October 19, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Looks like Carnival Splendor, 17Dec17 and 4 other cruises in Dec have San Juan listed as a port of call.
Rare Honolulu Blue Posted October 21, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 21, 2017 According to the latest note from President Christine Duffy, they plan to resume calls to San Juan on November 30 and St. Maarten "at the beginning of January". You can read the full note at https://www.carnival.com/travel-alerts.aspx .
Shaded Lady Posted October 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 21, 2017 Hopefully they're ready to resume business soon. One thought I had though, reading this thread... if they already contracted with Amber Cove and other places, wouldn't it be hard for them to change back to the original? After all, the ports have geared up to have those ships in port those days, Carnival agreed to pay the port fees, and many people have already booked excursions for the new cruise port. I'm just not sure if Carnival would make the decision to switch back to the original itinerary, given the impact. The first change they couldn't help, due to the hurricane... this one would have a significant impact, I'm pretty sure. For those of you wanting your original itinerary, I hope you get want you want! 2wheelin Posted October 21, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 21, 2017 Our Conquest sailing on 11/25 was originally scheduled for San Juan and St Martin. Both were cancelled. This week San Juan was put back on for Nov 30. St Martin was not but it had been replaced with another port and San Juan had not.
