AT&T Roam Mexico

Hello , Has anyone used it ? If so can you tell me what to do , how to set up , do I dial +1 and number Called AT&T they seemed clueless. Thanks

If you have the correct rate plan already you only need to go into your online management tool and add it. some plans include it already. once again check your online management tool to see if it is there under your features.

 

we just used in it cozumel. it was great. it was just like using your phone at home for calling and data.

 

and yes to call back to the US you have to dial +1.

Note that "+1" is the same as dialing "001," which is the country code for the US.

When you call AT&T for this kind of roaming info, ask to be transferred to the "international" department.

Be very, very careful using AT&T in Mexico!! We were on a cruise the last week of September, Cabo San Lucas and Puerta Vallarta. DH called AT&T and was told we had coverage in Mexico, we had Mexico roam. No problem in Cabo but Puerta Vallarta was a completely different story. We got hit with $70 in roaming charges. Apparently you can end up on another cell phone system without knowing it. When he got the bill he called and pushed until he got a detailed explanation for the extra charges so we know it was in PV. They ended up taking the charge off but only after DH told them if they didn't AT&T would lose a customer. He did everything he could but he wasn't told that. Just beware. And if you are on your phone while on the ship, even if docked, make sure you aren't on cellular at sea. That happened also, DH didn't realize he was on cellular at sea, thought he was on AT&T Mex cell. had a couple extra dollars charge for that too.

Of course, you have to use AT&T or one of its worldwide partner networks to get any AT&T advertised international roaming rates - free or otherwise (e.g., in many Pacific countries, that would be Vodaphone). AT&T states this in all of their web and other resources, including an online search feature -country by country.

When traveling abroad and wanting to use specific partner networks, always turn your phone's network setting to "manual" and then choose the partner network for that location to assure you're getting the deal to which you agreed.

Remember: if that network name on your screen 's top bar doesn't look familiar, you need to make sure it's a partner to AT&T (or whatever service you regularly use.

Make sure your AT&T plan includes Roaming in Mexico. Not all of their plans offer that inclusion.

This is very good advice. Didn't even think about turning the network setting to manual
