Canadian Scarlett Posted November 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2017 Instead of putting out your luggage the night before disembarking are you allowed to keep it and take it off the ship yourself?
MrYellowDuck Posted November 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2017 Yes, you can take the luggage off yourself. This is what we always do.
GTO-Girl Posted November 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 12, 2017 Instead of putting out your luggage the night before disembarking are you allowed to keep it and take it off the ship yourself? Yes we do this every time. Just FYI....there are usually a lot of passengers doing self assist so if you need to be off the ship quickly I would suggest you get downstairs and in line VERY early. Otherwise the elevators get so clogged it’s nearly impossible to get one. Have a wonderful cruise!!!
Canadian Scarlett Posted November 12, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted November 12, 2017 Thanks for the info! *****What is “very Early”?:)
GTO-Girl Posted November 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted November 12, 2017 Well .......for example on the Oasis they said to be downstairs for self assist by 6:30am. We are always downstairs by 5:45am and there are usually at least 50-100 people ahead of us in line.

MrsPete Posted November 12, 2017 #7 Share Posted November 12, 2017 We don't love any type of disembarkation, but we find self-disembarkation to be easier. No need to pack up early, and no need to be reunited with our luggage in the terminal. Yes, lines are long -- but lines are long with regular disembarkation too! GUT2407 Posted November 12, 2017 #8 Share Posted November 12, 2017 Instead of putting out your luggage the night before disembarking are you allowed to keep it and take it off the ship yourself? Sure can, but unless I’m in a rush i prefer to let them deal with it
GTO-Girl Posted November 12, 2017 #9 Share Posted November 12, 2017 Yikes!!!! That’s too early for me!!:o If you don’t have a need to be off that early just know that once they release the self assist people say around 6:45 you are free to self assist off the ship at anytime you choose after then..... So no worries about getting downstairs so early if you don’t need too...😁😁

Geldhart Posted November 12, 2017 #12 Share Posted November 12, 2017 Keep in mind if you want to hang around on the ship for a bit you will have to have your luggage with you as you won't have access to your cabin after a certain time. Rare island lady Posted November 12, 2017 #13 Share Posted November 12, 2017 We put our luggage out overnight, and enjoy a nice relaxing breakfast in the morning, not having to be off the ship right away. Even when we are ready to leave, we still have our rolling carry on bags. Almost every time we have had to carry them down the stairs when we leave for our waiting area at around 8:30 due to self assist with huge bags still in the elevators. :o Have seen many self assist with those huge bags bump, thumping them down the stair wells....or worse yet...carrying them UP the stairs! They don't look happy.
Desert Cruizers Posted November 12, 2017 #14 Share Posted November 12, 2017 We have done self assist only once last July but that was because we were at Galveston and wanted to get an early start back to Bush. Since I will be traveling solo now since the passing of my husband, I will try to pack more in carry ons then dragging the larger one around.
