Runcrazy Posted November 7, 2017 #226 Share Posted November 7, 2017 Who is your airline. I fly Jan 26 and noticed my seats were no longer showing when I checked my reservations nor could I find my route online. Called Delta and they said at the time they were rebooking Ict and Nov flights and I would have been notified later. They were a accommodating and rebooked my flights. You might want to be proactive and call your airline. If your flights are cancelled they should rebook for you.
NandK Posted November 7, 2017 #227 Share Posted November 7, 2017 I am sailing on Dec 9. Booked at Coral Princess since last April...called to be sure today & was told it was cancelled. Hotels.com originally told me it was still confirmed but I should email to check. What? They found me a room (generator power only) at Holiday Inn Express down street from Coral and cheaper. Just needed a bed at that point! Just happy we got one! Here is a copy of the email.... Dear Fredricka, Due to the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Maria, we have no electricity in the hotel and have been told it could take months for it to come back. Due to this, we are only providing accommodations for FEMA, soldiers and federal employees. It is with great regret that we have to cancel all upcoming reservations until further notice. It seems like your reservation was made through Expedia, so we advise you to contact them to cancel your reservation penalty free. Thank you for your understanding and we hope to have you as our guests in the near future. Warm regards, Margarita Bermúdez Front Desk Agent Sent from my iPad using Forums The Holiday Inn Express cancelled our reservation for the 26th of December. They told me the government has taken the entire hotel for disaster relief workers. You should call the hotel and confirm that you actually have a reservation because from what they told me they are not taking or honoring any regular reservations. Ontario Cruiser Posted November 7, 2017 #228 Share Posted November 7, 2017 Was your flight cancelled for January 28? AC is telling me that my Feb 25 and March 11 flights are still active, but I am suspicious as they are no longer available online. They told my TA that they only cancelled flights to Dec 15. Air Canada is not going to Porto Rico this winter, Westjet is going on Saturday only starting January 13th. Ontario Cruiser
otters92 Posted November 7, 2017 #229 Share Posted November 7, 2017 I posted a positive review from our two night stay in San Juan October 28-30 on TripAdvisor about the Best Western Plus Condado Palm Inn & Suites and received a reply back from the manager.... Henry N, General Manager at Best Western Plus Condado Palm Inn & Suites, responded.. We are glad that we were able to accommodate your stay. As you mention, our property is fully operational. All of our amenities and both our restaurants, Ropa Vieja and Nestle Toll House Cafe, are open. We look forward to accommodating other travelers that have been displaced. For our availability you can contact me directly at Hneumann@condadopalm.com or 787-648-8834. I contacted Mr. Neumann directly and have 2 rooms for the night before our cruise, 11/17. I previously had 3 different reservations at no-name hotels without power. Now I feel like my family will be safe for the one night before the cruise. And thank you to the person who started this board. It’s been tremendously helpful! sbalax Posted November 8, 2017 #230 Share Posted November 8, 2017 We had reservations at the Courtyard by Marriott Miramar and the Holiday Inn Express for 1 December 2017. Both have been cancelled by the respective hotels. They are only housing FEMA and other emergency workers. We now have reservations at The Wave and the Renaissance. Hopefully they will honor them. Celebrity has no pre-cruise options available. Frank in dark and still warm SBA
mackfam Posted November 9, 2017 #231 Share Posted November 9, 2017 Just checked into the Best Western Condado Palms. I was worried because we had booked through a third party site and even though I had phoned and confirmed our reservation directly with the hotel, I wasn’t counting on having a room until we actually got here. Very happy that they are honoring their reservations! Sent from my iPhone using Forums

seven1113 Posted November 9, 2017 #236 Share Posted November 9, 2017 Just today. I saw that AC Marriott and Stellaris is taking some reservations. We are scheduled to stay in san juan nov 28 until our first cruise dec 2. Does anyone know these hotels, or which one is preferable? This "easy" vacation has turned into quite a fiasco. We have reservations at these two and best western Palm. Is Palm far for a walk to the beach. I also heard the beach is closed due to the water being contaminated, has anyone else heard that? Thank you. Carolyn

Carolyn Can't comment on the hotels, but it's not that the beach itself is closed, it's that they're warning you not to go into the water because of possible bacterial contamination due to non-functioning sewage treatment plants. You can still go and sit out on the beach.

OnBeachTime Posted November 10, 2017 #242 Share Posted November 10, 2017 We had a reservation at Sheraton OSJ for November 17, everyone I spoke to told me that our reservation was still ok, but I spoke to someone at the actual hotel 2 days ago who told me that all reservations are cancelled until January. What number did you use to contact the actual hotel? The number I found was routed to a general reservation call center.

ken_ll Posted November 10, 2017 #247 Share Posted November 10, 2017 Received the following message from Choice Hotels regarding our (former) reservation at the Comfort Inn. We have stayed there many years sailing from San Juan. A month ago they were taking reservations for our dates - Nov. 17. Last week, I called the hotel as I had a change in flight times and the hotel confirmed the Nov. 17 date as valid and good for accommodation. My air was changed to leave a day earlier to arrive in San Juan on Nov.17. If Choice Hotels had been upfront, I would have changed my arrival date to Nov. 18 for the cruise. The offer by Choice Hotel to accommodate at another of their properties in the area rings hollow, it is in the same situation as this property. As well, this message rings hollow as guest have stayed at this property since Maria. We were able to book the Oceana Hostal Playero located about 5 blocks south of the former Radisson Ambassador for Nov. 17. Between this and United forcing an overnight in Newark, this would have been a good cruise to cancel or re-schedule. Dear ken_ll, Greetings! I’m Taylor with the Choice Cares Desk at Choice Hotels. I have some news regarding the following reservation for the Comfort Inn at Clemenceau St. #6 in San Juan, PR. Guest Name: ken_ll Date of Arrival: November 17, 2017 Confirmation #: 01234567 Unfortunately, this hotel is closed due to the damage from hurricane Maria and will not be able to accommodate guests. Because this correspondence does not ensure cancellation of this reservation, please call the Choice Cares Desk at (888) 228-5160 or go online to www.choicehotels.com to cancel the reservation. If possible, we’ll work with you on this reservation, and if you’d like, we can help you find an alternative Choice Hotels property in the area. We also suggest that you hang onto this notice for reference should any billing issues come up. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope to welcome you to a Choice Hotels property in the near future! Kind Regards, Taylor Choice Cares Desk Choice Hotels International
emang Posted November 10, 2017 #248 Share Posted November 10, 2017 Just checked in to AC Hotel in Condado. They sent last minute request to confirm we were coming, but they honored the long standing reservation. Hotel appears to still (or again after yesterday’s power issue) be on generator power. Many assistance workers on location. Cab driver was thrilled to have passengers. This is ‘high season’ in PR and the normal fares are way down. This is hitting the service industries hard. emang Posted November 10, 2017 #250 Share Posted November 10, 2017 Stellaris is is on the beach. AC is a block or two away. We can see the ocean from our room, but not the same as what you are looking for. Correction on the generator. They shut it off about an hour ago and we still have power. If I had to guess it is there for back-up power and they may have been just performing a test run. Only a couple buildings that are completely dark from our view.
