SzaSza Posted December 1, 2017 #27 Share Posted December 1, 2017 I got the upgrade offer as well - Splendor in February - ocean view guarantee to balcony (triple) - $300 - grabbed it, as at this point, what's another $300 when I got such a great deal on the OV GTY anyway. Was hoping to get an offer so was excited to take it.

Bobbysjack Posted December 2, 2017 #32 Share Posted December 2, 2017 We got an email yesterday too. For our victory sailing in January. $30 for upgrade to regular 8401 from 6432 L-shaped balcony. We passed. No upgrade for our Horizon sailing in April, but we would have passed on that too. We love the two bathrooms in the ocean view deluxe... Jackie81 Posted December 2, 2017 #33 Share Posted December 2, 2017 We got one as well. We were offered an upgrade from an interior on Deck 9 aft, to a balcony on Deck 9 mid for 336.00. That's actually MORE then what the balconies were when we first booked. So, we passed.

Sent from my iPad using Forums We also got this kind of offer to upgrade from L-shaped balcony to Lido for $50 total. Why would we want to give up our extra long balcony??? This would be a downgrade in my opinion, lol :'). We passed also.
jewliana Posted December 2, 2017 #35 Share Posted December 2, 2017 We got an amazing offer yesterday! From Balcony to Grand Suite for $300. We jumped!
fcfire23 Posted December 2, 2017 #36 Share Posted December 2, 2017 I got an offer as well yesterday for our November 2018 sailing on the Sunshine. $48 to upgrade to a balcony on deck 9 closest to the pool doors from our deck 7 extended balcony. I didn’t like the new location due to the potential noise so I declined the offer. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Micahs Grandad Posted December 2, 2017 #37 Share Posted December 2, 2017 We got an offer that to me was a downgrade. Go from pt cabin (with portholes and couch) on deck 1 to inside on deck 8 right below lido serving area and pay $ 48 for the privilege. If anything they should be looking to pay me to move. carnivaladdix120 Posted December 2, 2017 #40 Share Posted December 2, 2017 While I did get an offer (upgrade to a different balcony on a deck higher for $24), I also go the Nassau email. Had to check my reservation to make sure the itinerary hadn't been updated / make sure I was still booked on the cruise I'd booked! Me too! I freaked out and signed in immediately to make sure nothing crazy happened ;p
Micahs Grandad Posted December 2, 2017 #41 Share Posted December 2, 2017 That's crazy! You are right, they should pay you to move! The sad thing is they probably found someone who didnt realize what they were giving up to pay more for less.

DebJ14 Posted December 2, 2017 #43 Share Posted December 2, 2017 After 21 Carnival cruise, I'm still waiting for my upgrade offer! Sent from my LG-LS993 using Forums mobile app After 39 cruises on Carnival am still waiting for the upsell or the upgrade fairy. On our first Princess cruise we were upgraded from a balcony to a Vista Suite (not an upsell, an actual upgrade). Sadly, I had to pay for every one after that on Princess because there is no going back once you have the suite.
blondie151o Posted December 2, 2017 #44 Share Posted December 2, 2017 I did too! Going from an ocean view aft on upper deck to a balcony on main deck for 298$ more. I passed. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
tugtraveller Posted December 3, 2017 #45 Share Posted December 3, 2017 I went back and checked my emails for Nov 30, and yay I had an email from Carnival with an upgrade offer that I hadn't noticed before! I immediately went to My Cruise Manager and upgraded my Riviera/Deck 1 oceanview to a balcony for $114. Even got to select my new balcony room from several offered on the 6th floor. Sweet. Looks to me like there are a ton of balcony cancellations for our February Eastern Caribbean cruise visiting St. Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk (all 3 hit hard by Irma & Maria), and Half Moon Cay. We really contemplated cancelling ourselves, but we are on a back-to-back and it would just be too hard to change the multitude of flights, hotels, & other arrangements. We will keep a positive attitude and focus on enjoying the sun, the soft white sand, the beautiful blue ocean, and all the opportunities for amazing snorkeling! But cudos to Carnival for rewarding those who are sticking-it-out, with $114 balcony upgrades. We've never had a balcony before and now I am soooooooooo excited for this cruise. I called Carnival and asked about a possible balcony upgrade for the 2nd week of our cruise which is to the Western Caribbean - Cozumel, Belize, Mahogany Bay, Grand Cayman. Their answer: not offered. But I think the Western Caribbean cruise is almost fully booked since Feburary is such a popular cruise month, and they were not affected by the hurricanes. Thank you Cruise Critic BBS-ers who were kind enough to point out these offers and help their fellow cruisers. I would never have gone back and looked for that email if it wasn't for this thread. And especially a very big Thank you Carnival for rewarding cruisers who are still going to the hurricane-ravenged Eastern Caribbean!

Eggfrmr Posted December 3, 2017 #47 Share Posted December 3, 2017 Going on 7 nighter to Mexico on Miracle in Jan. Got the offer for an upgrade from deck 5 obstructed balcony to deck 7 extended balcony for $76 total. You bet I said yes. Each of us are now paying a total of $204.25 for this cruise thanks to the myVegas game. Sent from my LG-H812 using Tapatalk
Rare KmomChicago Posted December 3, 2017 #48 Share Posted December 3, 2017 My parents got the upsell offer for Sensation but we did not. This sailing has a fair amount of rooms left for 2 people but not for 3 - they can't upsell you to a cabin that's not available. They did take the upgrade for about $100 for the 4 nights, from a porthole room on 7 to an outside on 4. It's not a huge upgrade or a huge bargain compared to the original prices that were offered at the time we booked, but they are very close to the midship elevator now and I think they will appreciate less walking, something I hadn't taken into account originally. No fairies or Christmas involved in this. The small bump in revenue from a slightly better room can add up for Carnival. And will this open up those lowest rooms for a new round of deals in an attempt to fill the ships? Possibly MyVegas or other casino-related offers? Would not be a surprise. exarkkun Posted December 3, 2017 #50 Share Posted December 3, 2017 While I did get an offer (upgrade to a different balcony on a deck higher for $24), I also go the Nassau email. Had to check my reservation to make sure the itinerary hadn't been updated / make sure I was still booked on the cruise I'd booked! We did too! We got an offer to upgrade our 8C balcony on deck 7 to an 8F on deck 11 for $22. I took it because there are fewer cabins on that deck, so hopefully less noise. I also hope the view will be better that high up and it's so close to the gym so my husband will like that.
