GeorgiaMomof4 Posted December 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2017 I have some onboard credit already for our upcoming cruise. I have also purchased a gift card for $100. My question is, if I decide to use the gift card as well and do not use it all - how do they refund it? Do they give it back in cash at the end of the cruise or do they put the remaining amount back on the card? Or, would they use the gift card money first and not use all the on board credit? Just not sure how all this works! Thanks!
maryred Posted December 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Beyond OBC any refundable payment method will automatically be refunded in kind, if the balance left is $10 or more. Under $10, unless you go to the Guest Services desk and request the refund otherwise manually closing your account, the balance left will be donated to the Saint Jude Children's Cancer Research Hospital. Here is the order that funds will be used in: Non-refundable or special promo on board credits Cruise Cash (department specific CC will be applied 1st if on account & qualified purchase made) Refundable OBC Carnival Gift cards Cash or cash equivalents like Traveler's Cheques Credit or Debit cards (This will have no order to it if you use multiple cards on one account. If you wish to dictate a specific amount off a certain card the transaction could be handled as a cash advance and conveniences fees charge on top of any cash advance fee from the card's issuer.) doneinne Posted December 4, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 4, 2017 You can always just go withdraw cash from your account at the kiosks. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
mdsgu Posted December 4, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Use the casino trick on the last night of the cruise. You can easily monitor your S&S account in real time (almost) on the HUB app.
teknoge3k Posted December 4, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 4, 2017 You can make things much easier on yourself, by just hanging onto your gift card. Then the last day of your cruise go to GS and pay your balance (if any) with your gift card. There is no need to preload them at all.

That only works if you use a credit card to secure your account, or you will need to apply the GC as soon as your OBC is depleted. Getting the balance of the gift card back in cash is easy in the Casino. Otherwise, Carnival will mail you a new gift card with the remaining balance about a week after the cruise.
