ssimon Posted December 6, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2017 We booked our March cruise on the Breakaway through CAS. Besides a rate we were happy with are there any perks like getting cash without the fee? Thanks for the help.

A search on "casino" will get some related experiences.
kfnesq Posted December 6, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 6, 2017 We received a drink card for free drinks in the casino (this was on the Jade), and it certainly was not because of our play level (we are the lowest) so I have to assume it's because we booked through the casino. ssimon Posted December 6, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted December 6, 2017 Thank you all for the responses. We were hoping not to have to carry cash for casino play and 3 percent could get expensive!
Rare mking8288 Posted December 6, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 6, 2017 There is usually a welcome abroad letter from the ship's casino team, introducing the names of the hosts - and cocktail hours (embarkation day) ... get to know them - it can help. Plus, if your player's rating are sufficiently highly, they could possibly waive those later on. OBC, bottle of wine, chocolate-covered strawberries & even daily goodies, comp'd specialty dinner for 2, etc. - all those are possible in the mix. Keep in mind you're really, prepaid for them with your play ... just a matter of getting a non-cash rebate in recognition of your generous donations, LOL ;p
Sand and Seas Posted December 6, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 6, 2017 Thank you all for the responses. We were hoping not to have to carry cash for casino play and 3 percent could get expensive! If you reach Sapphire Tier with them, they waive the 3% fees. It takes 15,000 points in their tier earning year which is April 1st to March 31st. This is what we do. The money is just lumped into our other on-board purchases and goes to our credit card we have on file. We get bonuses from our credit card for all 'purchases' we make. Very easy and you don't have to carry lots of cash. They also have an ATM in the casino, but I don't know what the fees are. Otherwise, you might want to check on their web-page 'Cash and Credit Access' tab for other options like establishing a line of credit. Carry a thousand or two with you. No different risk than normal. You can get $1,000 from the ATM for just the fee - maybe $6? Way less than 3% for sure. Moby0215 Posted December 7, 2017 #9 Share Posted December 7, 2017 Thank you all for the responses. We were hoping not to have to carry cash for casino play and 3 percent could get expensive! I️ would definitely carry some cash for casino play but you can also look into casino credit or I️ also think there is a way to pre-deposit money. This was copied from the NCL site: Front Money deposits are accepted for gaming in the form of cash, travelers checks, cashier’s checks and wire transfers directly to NCL Norwegian prior to embarkation. All cashier’s checks require prior verification. Contact Casino Credit for more information. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CaptainCampion Posted December 7, 2017 #10 Share Posted December 7, 2017 I just booked mine through CAS from an offer at the Grand Sierra in Reno. Seemed like a great deal but I would love to know what other perks this might offer. I have a good level of play at that casino, but I'm sure that means nothing to Norwegian. I do recall hearing the lady say when I booked online that I would get free drinks in the casino, but I need to look into that We received a drink card for free drinks in the casino (this was on the Jade), and it certainly was not because of our play level (we are the lowest) so I have to assume it's because we booked through the casino. As to the Grand Sierra - good chance the team onboard never even heard of them. Even with the partnership with Total Rewards, they have no idea or care about that level, points, perks, etc.

If you have no status with CAS, it will get you standard call drinks. BUT,,,, you can also get bottled water and energy drinks (which are not included with any of the beverage packages). These can be picked up ONLY at the casino bar when the casino is open. If you build status with NCL CAS, they will comp your room without having to bother with land-based certificates.
