Which side of the ship is better for Norwegian cruise?

Hi everyone,

I'm contemplating booking a cruise going to Norway and was wondering if having a cabin on port versus starboard side matters for this sailing.

The itinerary in the order of the ports are listed below:

Geiranger

Arctic Circle cruising

Tromso

Honningsvag

Alesund

Flam

Stavanger

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I agree with Bruce. Pick your cabin based on other considerations. Deep in the fjords, you'll see the views all around you without concern for which side of the ship you are on. Also, the ships will dock on different sides depending on things they need to do with the ship, so you can't really predict that either. Either side if fine.

Also worth remembering: Sailing into a fjord also means sailing out of a fjord. So in many cases, whatever was on one side of the ship during a sail-in will be on the other during sail-out.

However, for the sail-in to Geiranger, I definitely recommend heading up to the top deck, so that you get the perspective of having the steep fjord walls towering over you on both sides.
