Girlloves2cruise Posted January 10, 2018 #76 Share Posted January 10, 2018 We went on the Escape in Sept 2017 and this was our first on NCL. We are RCL cruises and after 15+ cruises we decided to try something different and we loved it. We loved the Irish bar/restaurant where you could get complimentary sports bar foods, wings, nachos etc. Also, the Jimmy Buffet Restaurant around the pool area was a great place to hangout Pool . The Waterfront area was also very nice. We took the drink card and Speciality Restaurants as are extra and the drinks were plentiful and the food was Excellent as were are bartenders and Wait staff. The shows were just average to us. The Howl at the Moon Piano bar was lots of fun. We are currently looking into the Canada/Boston cruise in Sept/Oct. Happy Sailing. Jshanleypt Posted January 11, 2018 #77 Share Posted January 11, 2018 I noticed that your departure was from New York, can anyone who has taken the ship out of Miami confirm whether the vibe pass is usable or not? I know it's a relative question and depends a lot about the weather forecast, which is a tossup, but we're sailing on the Jan 13 Escape and would appreciate any feedback that someone who has sailed out of Miami recently might share. Thanks! We are in the large balcony mini suite for our upcoming trip having sailed in the Haven last time and I was worried we might not enjoy as much. Happy to hear you did! Thanks! We were out of Miami- it is totally usable and we went there on all at sea days (which was 3 days). It was windy one day which made it not as enjoyable, but the other days were perfect. You can use them on days you port too. Some people stay on ship in vibe rather than going into Nassau. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

wants2cruise2 Posted January 11, 2018 #80 Share Posted January 11, 2018 New to NCL but old hat at crusing, on the Escape, is there a nice quiet place for coffee and tea in the early mornings? Preferably a non-up charge? Looking forward to a new experience, but slightly intimidated by so much NEW at once. (New ship, new cruise line, different dining options)

Thanks! We sailed out of Miami - NY was referring to New Years - sorry... We weren't "sun bathing" on our cruise (weather and just who we are) so our Vibe passes went un-used. 42CruiseCrazy Posted January 11, 2018 #82 Share Posted January 11, 2018 Really ?....what a disappointment, probably need to fight for a seat, and we thought it was totally open to anyone with no fee:mad: The Waterfront is open to everyone to enjoy. You can stroll 3/4 of the way around the ship and there is plenty of seating available in addition to the restaurant seating. (New ship, new cruise line, different dining options) If you just want coffee or tea, go to the Waterfront near the 5'oClock Bar. There was a urn of coffee as well as tea and hot water plus some danish. Completely empty. Grab a sofa and enjoy. This is where the to-go cups are also. Jewellss Posted January 12, 2018 #84 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Just curious if anyone who put a bid in for an upgrade into the Haven suites have been notified. I know it may be too soon and thought it would not hurt to ask.

smplybcause Posted January 12, 2018 #88 Share Posted January 12, 2018 Yes, there's light switches. It's not everything on and everything off. As long as the card is in you can choose what is on. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

smplybcause Posted January 14, 2018 #90 Share Posted January 14, 2018 So anyone know what's open for food when you get on the boat? Last NCL cruise I went to the buffet, but hoping there might be a less crazy option... Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Fiona2011 Posted January 14, 2018 #93 Share Posted January 14, 2018 One of main dining rooms will be open at their regular time-12 or 12:30. My friend and I got there when it opened and it was lovely and quiet.
RPCVcruiser Posted January 14, 2018 #94 Share Posted January 14, 2018 Do the water slides on a port day. When we did this over the 4th of July cruise on the Escape last summer we did the slides for 45 minutes, up and down no waiting. This was a cruise that packed to the gills with cruisers. Last NCL cruise I went to the buffet, but hoping there might be a less crazy option... Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk The last place I prefer to go when I get on board is the buffet. It’s always crowded and the food is not that great. On NCL I used to go to O Sheehan as soon as I was on board but last cruise it was so crowded I went to Taste or Savour. The main dining room is the best place IMHO to have your first meal on board (on any ship). It’s relaxed, not crowded, and you can stay with your hand luggage and have them bring the food to you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sand and Seas Posted January 14, 2018 #96 Share Posted January 14, 2018 I agree with above poster. We have been on the Escape 5 times and 4 of those times we ate our embarkation lunch at a MDR. Never a crowd or a wait for a table. Different courses of food came out at good intervals. Nice and relaxing with plenty of room for your hand carried luggage while you wait for your room to be open. On one of the 5 times we went to O'Sheehans and had somewhat of a wait for a table and food. We will be going to the MDR for first day lunch next time. My first three NCL Cruises were on the Breakaway twice and Getaway once. Each time after I boarded, I walked straight over to O’Sheehan’s and got served within 15 minutes. It was a little known secret. Now everybody knows about it and it’s crowded on the first day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We like to use an old gift-card (zero balance).
