Casino Comp Chick Posted January 1, 2018 #26 Share Posted January 1, 2018 So you are saying secondhand smoke is a carcinogen I take it Fwiw I know you are a big fan of the smoky casino and I also know that it's your way or the highway regarding smoking there from reading many of your previous posts and that's perfectly ok But that still doesn't change the very obvious fact that the Away class ships are very poorly designed and that the open air casino is a smokestack You have Happy New Year!![emoji898][emoji322] Sent from my iPad using Forums Actually I did not say that, I just basically said don’t believe everything someone in office tells you, they all have agendas. See that is where you have got me all wrong, I am just evening the playing field with my posts. I do not want NCL to ONLY see pro nonsmoking threads. I and many others smoke and gamble and I want to make sure we are spoken for on these threads. I have no issue if they make separate casinos for both smokers and non smokers, it seems it’s only the non smokers that refuse to compromise. It is those people that I make sure know they are in the smoking section when they start the fake cough or the waving of the arms in my face especially if I have been sitting at the same slot machine for hours and they have just sat down. I do hope that NCL follows up the new ships in the way Joy was with multiple casinos so everyone would be happy then hopefully I won’t have to constantly post in threads such as these. Have a happy new year too!

ALS1214 Posted January 29, 2018 #28 Share Posted January 29, 2018 The solution would be an enclosed smoking area in the casino with machines etc. I know some ships (princess??) have enclosed smoking rooms in the Casino. I am hoping Bliss has it under control since the casino looks out in the open. But it is not a deal breaker for me. I will just not waste too much money on slots, lol
lovethesun1960 Posted January 29, 2018 #29 Share Posted January 29, 2018 Just off the Escape last week. They seem to use some kind of perfumey deodorizer to mask the smoke from the casino. At first it was not too bad but by the end of the week it was nauseating and we tried never to go to 7 and could only bear to eat at O'Sheehans's once. I have another cruise booked in July on the Escape but I think I will cancel it as I was not happy with the ship design or the smoke. Too bad because the staff is amazing and the food is mostly good. Sand and Seas Posted February 8, 2018 #30 Share Posted February 8, 2018 We were on the Escape last week and I thought it was much more smoke-free than our September Escape cruise. It might have just been a change in where the non-playing smokers decided to hang out, but I truly thought it was much nicer in the casino this trip. I did sit next to another player who smoked but she was very careful to keep her cigarette and ashtray on the other side. I have no problem with actual players smoking in the smoking areas. Most of them are very polite and actually attempt to keep it away from a non-smoker sitting near them. I did read on the 'all about Bliss' thread that they are going to have a more enclosed smoking area that hopefully will keep everyone happier. Casino Comp Chick Posted February 8, 2018 #31 Share Posted February 8, 2018 Come on, that is an OLD worn out line. Just because an erroneous comment was made about one thing being dangerous or not does not mean that every comment ever made about a danger was erroneous. Christine's statement is entirely irrelevant! Her comment was far from being erroneous it was depraved indifference to the lives of the workers cleaning up the area and the people that lived close to the site. maggie cruises Posted February 9, 2018 #32 Share Posted February 9, 2018 Not making any judgement what so ever, however smokers till smoke in the casino when it is closed. So yet again ncl doesn't enforce their own rules? If you smoke in the casino aren't you supposed to be playing? If the casino is closed then why are pax smoking in there? Hmmm.... Fwiw and I've said it many times ...and please no commentary needed on what I am going to post now..... If you want to get Ncl's attention....remove the dsc...and in this case tell them it's because your cruise was diminished because ncl did not enforce their own rules...that being the smoking rules in the casino..period Yup it's harsh...but it will get their attention You can always tip your steward and waiters no problem Sorry but I don't tip the dishwashers in a restaurant so I'm not doing in a ship Make a point with ncl and do it by removing dsc and tell them exactly why. raea416 Posted February 10, 2018 #34 Share Posted February 10, 2018 It’s really only noticeable in the casino and the main area by headliners and the French restaurant. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Rare eileeshb Posted February 10, 2018 #36 Share Posted February 10, 2018 I can't compare it to the BA, but the smoke on the Escape near the casino was the worst indoor smoke I've ever encountered on any cruise ship. We dined in Le Bistro the first night and couldn't understand what was the problem while we were heading down. It is bad enough that for my upcoming Escape cruise in Feb, I made sure to book Le Bistro at a fairly early time on a sea day, so that hopefully the casino smoke would not be so bad. I'll be traveling on that cruise with my mom who has somewhat significant respiratory problems, and I know she wouldn't be able to make it through the haze. Doesn't Le Bistro have an enclosed seating area as well as the tables outside? it may be worthwhile chatting to the restaurant manager at boarding to ensure your table will be as far from the source of smoke as possible. As for the smoking proponent complaining about "fake coughing and hand waving" my coughing is far from fake. I had trouble with the smoke from particular brands of cigarettes before Ireland brought in the workplace smoking ban, and since that ban came in I have lost all tolerance to the smoke from any brand. If I haven't taken my anti-histamine any form of tobacco smoke will send me sneezing and coughing. I also discovered that my "motion sickness" as a child was actually a reaction to the smell of stale smoke in my father's car when we went on long journeys.
