MSC SEASIDE at CHRISTMAS 23/12/2017 REVIEW

I was thinking back to the Muster drill held in the Garage disco on Deck 7, there are very few seats in there so most people have to stand for the duration of the drill.

Once again we observed people playing on their phones instead of listening and watching what was going on, it really is time that MSC clamped down on this issue, others were sat on the floor and could not see what was going on.

We still find it hard to believe that people can be so flippant with their own safety, these very same people would no doubt blame MSC when the smelly stuff hits the fan! ...

I never listen any more , after so many cruises I know what to do and how to put jacket.

We will be heading back to the Seaside at the end of April and it should be interesting to see what if anything has changed and whether the carpets have begun to settle down, we will also check how the Buffet situation is getting along.

Hopefully this time we will get our invite to the Black card party ... ;p

I read through this thread and I am still confused over two issues. As Black Card members, do we each get a complimentary dinner and each get a bottle of Prosecco or is it one dinner per State Room and one bottle of Prosecco per stateroom?

It is my understanding that we each get one. What night was the black party held on as well as the meet and mingle get together?

Thank you for your review and thank you in advance for your reply. :D

In our sailing each Black Card member could bring a guest. So our party of 4 had 2 Black Card members and 2 non so it worked perfectly.

We had one bottle for the room. The party was the 4th night but I think it depends upon itinerary and schedule.

We did get 2 meals per Black card and an initial one bottle of Prosecco and Chocolate Strawberries, after we complained about not being sent the invite to the Black card party which we found out about the night afterwards we were sent a further bottle of Prosecco and Strawberries, we also received a 3rd bottle and cookies but have no idea why !

We will see what happens this time around on the April 28th sailing ...

Thanks Dave for all your help. I warned my wife about the hair spray issue and she was careful. They did seem to be short on staff in many areas. I guess this is the new way to cruise. Smaller cabins, poorer quality food, and less staff. We kept getting two MSC caps in our cabin and we don't know why. We gave some away, won some at trivia and still brought six home. I always say "That's just the Italian way!" when I can't understand what they are doing. Bob

Thank you for your review of the aft suite and your Black Card experiences. Also thank you for all the information you have shared in other threads up to the release of Seaside. I am quite pleased to hear that you will be on the 28 Apr sailing (as seems to be a the case with a fair lot of folks). I hope to meet you and thank you in person.

"The Deck 19 Aurea and Wellness sun deck was not over busy until towards the end of the week "

could you re-affirm this comment that the Sun deck on deck 19 is for wellness clients also?

This information is unclear in my booking. we are booked under the wellness package and are travelling with others booked under the aurea package.

thanks

Inside the ship on Deck 19 there is a sign that says Aurea and Wellness guests only.

There is a video on YouTube by a guy from maybe Russia who actually shows the sign I mentioned above.

This I already knew just from looking at the deck plans. There are doors that connect to the buffet aft but they are really meant for crew only.

Sorry about your friends. On the very first day with no cabin service I would be taking it the YC Concierge to correct.

We were escorted to the Biscayne Bay Buffet by the head butler by going through the "Crew Only" door which was at the back of Yamaguchi's restaurant. This is indeed a flaw. I was told to go down to deck 15 and back up to 16 to access the buffet the first time I looked for it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Ernie ... so far I have not seen any photos and not seen the floor raised when we were on the ship.

I thought I would confirm this once and for all. Yes the Miami Beach pool floor does raise up, and it's used as a dance floor for outdoor deck parties. I took these two photos on my recent cruise to confirm it.

Ernie ... Thanks for adding the photos, you have just reminded me that I did ask Pier Paolo a few weeks ago on FB about it but forgot to post his response with moving house. Anyway at least we know for sure now.

Well as we said in the original post at the bottom of the review "we would sail Seaside again" we are headed back to the ship on April 28th and it will be interesting to see what changes have been implemented if any. current reports appear to look favourable now that the crew are settling into their routine.
