I got off the jewel Friday morning my friends and I watched you sail away. If you have time stop by the casino and tell brownie(Elmer brown) and Dino Dino hi. They were great guys. I had a great time on that itinerary.

Hello - We are on the Singapore - Hong Kong leg of this journey - can you tell me when O'Sheehans serve food? I have just seen a photo 5.30 - 8.30 - Is the only time they serve food? The 'Pub' on the Sun serve food all night!!

O'sheehan's is open 22 hours a day from 6am am till 4am. The time you are referring to is for the dinner special of the day (attached is an example). Also there is a cut down menu late in the evening. bb9a6acdb94fb099afa7290b4a227002.jpg

Day 8 Akaroa

After a salmon and cream cheese diy bagel (highly recommended) for breakfast from the outdoor part of the garden cafe buffet, we took a tender to shore. Akaroa is a pretty town and has a lot of cafes, restaurants and tourist shops.

Not far from the museum (worth a visit) we had the best coffee so far on this trip at Rona's restaurant. Apart from excellent coffee, they have an extensive wine list and a great menu. Unfortunately we were too early for lunch.

Dinner was at Azura. Clams , corn fritters, salmon and half a rotisserie chicken (today's stand out dish) which reminded me of the rotisserie I had in Paris.

Once again food was faultless and even though the restaurant was full, service was fast, attentive and friendly.

Day 8 cont.

Evening show was Johnny Balance the magician. He was a great entertainer.

The evening continued at the magnum's lounge with Taylor the piano guy and ended in the wee hours at the casino.

Did you notice if there were any tours available on the dock? I’m not planning anything for that port. I don’t like to overplan and book something for every port. Sometimes it’s good just to get off and see what’s available and what you feel like doing on the day. A wine tour might be good though if available.

No tours available at the dock..We were shuttled to the tourist information centre by courtesy bus (5min).

Picton was just a nice small town. The highlight was the hardware store where I got a new socket for my coffee grinder which I had stripped lol. The museum was nice ,

Thanks so much for answering all our questions and posting interesting pictures etc. The Mexican buffet and the seafood basket look delicious. I’ve never had dinner at OSheahans- maybe I’ll try it next cruise.

O'sheehan's is definitely a favourite dining venue. The other night we had buffalo wings, ice-cream and beer at 2am lol.

The theme nights at the garden cafe are good from what I have heard from fellow passengers. Hector said the Mexican food on board is ok:-) A Cuban friend described the food on Cuban night as "not very authentic but very tasty nonetheless".

Day 9 daily

After a short wander through the streets of Picton, we had lunch at the garden cafe.

Tasty fried rice, mixed sandwiches and a slice of very good margharita pizza. Out of curiosity tried a sugar free coconut slice from the dessert station. It was delicious. Highly recommend it. We sat outside next to the great outdoors bar and had some tequilas served by one of the best bar tenders we have had so far. She found some pernod for us as there is no ouzo on the ship . Brightened our day.

Day 9 cont.

Dinner was at la cucina. It was a great. Service was excellent and the waiter very knowledgeable. Bread was served warm with Italian olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Gnocchi and pasta hand made and delicious, however I thought the best dish by far was the shrimp risotto. Perfectly seasoned, creamy and delicious shrimp. My partner also loved the tiramisu. c0f7506806f56cc79b3d1669a1d19257.jpg5faf5439a5713d472f9ba8c16ba3534b.jpg7c3b67813be5601f256cf6534cbf2c1c.jpg3ce9751ad493bb5761d5e907d10392ca.jpg51fbdaf823f991aeb8d3afb117f010f8.jpg5280b63a184a44e90c0f19501eda383a.jpg

Spoke with a friend last night who told me the ship's walking tour of Picton (59 usd) was not good. He said it was shorter than advertised, didn't include the museum and the commentary lacked relevant information. Fortunately he gave constructive feedback to the shorex desk so hopefully they can make improvements.
