andlep Posted January 10, 2018 Author #26 Share Posted January 10, 2018 Travel notes: I am using a Vodafone travel sim while in NZ (bought online from simcorner). On the ship I am using my 250 minutes of free ship wifi (very slow) which was included in the distinctive voyages promotion. Also included in the promotion was 120 minutes of ship to shore calls which works really well.

To the OP (Andrew) - do you know if Hector and Gabby ( entertainment team) are still onboard for the Jan 31st sailing. I like Alex too, pretty sure he’d just got on in November so I figure he’ll still be onboard. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

andlep Posted January 11, 2018 Author #38 Share Posted January 11, 2018 Day 7 Port Chalmers. Today we took a taxi to Dunedin ($40 nz one way, shuttle $15 nz return). Stocked up on coffee beans at Coffee insomnia where quite a few passengers were enjoying free wifi and wandered the streets taking in the nice architecture. There is an art gallery that is worth seeing and I also recommend the St Paul's cathedral organ recital. Some passengers took the hopon bus and were not impressed with the 5 stops. Best to just walk. Lunch was at Carey's Bay Hotel near the ship. We ordered local New Zealand mussels, chowder, sole, clams, poisson cru and salmon patties. Absolutely delicious, top quality food. Compared to Melbourne Australia prices, it was a bargain as well ($200 nz for 4 people including 6 tequilas and 5 beers). andlep Posted January 11, 2018 Author #39 Share Posted January 11, 2018 Dinner on day 7 was at cagney's. Had to try the famous rib eye and we were not disappointed. Cooked medium rare as ordered and perfectly seasoned. Appetisers, sides and dessert were also great. Note that since it was our first port day, cagney's was virtually empty at 6pm and only half full by 7pm. Later on we saw "tenori" at the theatre. The show was high quality and very entertaining. So far we have not heard one bad thing about any of the shows. Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
