lovestocruise19 Posted January 14, 2018 Author #27 Share Posted January 14, 2018 We checked in for Your Time Dining and got into the MDR right away. We were in the Horizons Dining Room which was at the back of the ship. You checked in for YTD next to the coffee shop on Deck 5. I had strawberry bisque, chicken and a caramel dessert which wasn't that great. DH had this: Some kind of meat. Lol. I don't eat red meat so I can never tell. lovestocruise19 Posted January 14, 2018 Author #28 Share Posted January 14, 2018 After supper, I waited in line at guest services for a good 25 minutes only for the prepurchased social media package to work just fine as soon as I got to the desk. Go figure. I had bought it under my husband's credentials so that is what I needed to log in as. I swear he told me that he already tried that, but I guess not. Lol. Oh well. Wasn't like I had anywhere to be. We watched a comedy show with comedian Cee Jay. We then went up to Lido and I got a piece of Mississippi mud cake and some cookies. We went to the shops and I found a funnel keychain, which was amazing because I got one on one of my early cruises and it broke and I hadn't seen it in years. We went back to the room and then DH went up to get a BLT from the Deli (which he found for me. It is actually in the middle of the buffet and not on the side like it is on the Conquest class ships). He said it didn't taste as good as room service BLTs. He said half the sandwich was premade and then they slap the bacon on it and heat it up (also heating the lettuce-yuck). lovestocruise19 Posted January 15, 2018 Author #32 Share Posted January 15, 2018 Loving the pictures! We sail Vista in 40 days and we have our first balcony, too! We will be in a Cove Balcony. Looking at the pictures, you were in a cove, too? How did you like it? I absolutely LOVED the cove balcony! We aren't huge sun worshippers so I didn't mind not getting much sun (it was actually pretty cloudy this cruise-but warm) and I love being so close to the water. The only time it wasn't so great was the first sea day where the ship was squeaking. I think it was because it was windy. And there is a light for the balcony so you can go out there at night, too! I read a lot on the balcony. It is so nice to be able to get some fresh air in your own private spot without having to share with fellow passengers. In post #23 you can see me on the balcony and then me with my feet up on the balcony. I took a lot of photos from my balcony, as well, which I will be posting later. lovestocruise19 Posted January 15, 2018 Author #35 Share Posted January 15, 2018 Monday, January 8, 2018 I woke up a couple times during the night to go to the bathroom and I heard a squeaking noise. At first I thought it might be the lifeboats rubbing against the side of the ship, but I checked and I don't think that was it. It was annoying me, but DH said it didn't bother him. That was the only time I heard it and I think it had something to do with the wind. I got up and got breakfast on Lido while DH slept in. I returned to the room with a hot cocoa. I took a shower and then attempted to read on my balcony, but all I smelt was smoke! Some a-hole must have been smoking on their balcony. Fortunately, that was the only time that happened. I read inside for a bit and then back outside after the smoker was gone. Hot cocoa on my cove balcony:
lovestocruise19 Posted January 15, 2018 Author #36 Share Posted January 15, 2018 DH got up and we went to the shops to buy him sunglasses. He lost the other pair he brought with him. He has the worst luck when it comes to sunglasses. We went to the Red Frog Pub and played fooseball. We were all tied up when I accidentally scored on myself, allowing DH to win. Bummer! lovestocruise19 Posted January 15, 2018 Author #37 Share Posted January 15, 2018 We went to the Sports Square and played candle pin bowling ($3 per person), but the balls kept getting stuck and not coming all the way up the ball return.

lovestocruise19 Posted January 15, 2018 Author #41 Share Posted January 15, 2018 We went back down to the room where we found it being cleaned. He was gone quickly, though, so we hung out for a bit before going down to lunch. One strange thing I found during this cruise was that they gave you the towel animal during the day when they cleaned the room and not during turndown at night like they have always done in the past. DH accidentally decapitated the puppy!
lovestocruise19 Posted January 15, 2018 Author #42 Share Posted January 15, 2018 We went up to Lido for lunch and I tried the pretzel bun with turkey off the new deli menu. It was pretty good, but it had a lot of weird stuff on it that I picked off. Well, weird for me since I'm a picky eater! DH got a burger. I ate dessert and then brought ice cream back to the room to eat on the balcony. DH hung out inside the room. I read my book and then we both napped. I went to the shops and bought a pair of earrings and a cute cat with glasses makeup bag. I double checked at guest services to make sure my OBC was being used first as it doesn't show up on the Hub App. There was a crew member working the line who helped me which was very nice. He solved my issue before I reached the front of the line. We hung out in the room for a bit and then got ready for elegant night.
lovestocruise19 Posted January 15, 2018 Author #43 Share Posted January 15, 2018 I convinced DH to take professional photos since I had a new headpiece my sister bought me. We must have had a family reunion in front of us in line for the backdrop (the funnel in the atrium) as they took forever. We finally got our photos done and then checked in and went right down to YTD. We didn't choose YTD, but were stuck with it because they didn't have early dining whe we booked the cruise. However, we both agreed that this YTD seemed to work a lot smoother than when we tried it once on the Freedom repo cruise. Service was slow, which seems par for the course on elegant night. lovestocruise19 Posted January 15, 2018 Author #45 Share Posted January 15, 2018 After supper, we watched America Rocks in the Liquid Lounge. At one point one of the dancers came up to the balcony. She was trying to get people to stand and dance and I was the only one to stand and start dancing. She reached over and gave me a high five! :D After the show, we went to the room for a bit. Then we went down to the lobby bar for a drink. I got my favorite: mocha chocolate getaway. Jason noticed there was a comedy show at 9:30 p.m. so we took our drinks to the Limelight Lounge. It was Cee Jay again, but with a different routine. Sight lines from the balcony sucked. Matt: DH on our cove balcony at night:

lovestocruise19 Posted January 15, 2018 Author #49 Share Posted January 15, 2018 We're thinking of getting a cruise on Horizon for 2019. Did you find this ship too huge? I was actually talking about this with my husband while on the ship. The largest Carnival ship we had been on was the Conquest class and I was afraid I'd find this one to be too big. However, it didn't feel as big as I thought. It was quite nice actually because all the areas were larger and people were spread out more around the ship so it never felt crowded to us.
