Aquaholic612 Posted January 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2018 I need some help choosing a cruise in the Mediterranean this summer! About us...husband and wife, cruising without the kids :D, late 30's, active, love good food, want to be busy and adventurous but still have time to relax by the pool. Husband has only been on 1 cruise before (Disney 2 years ago) and I have probably been on 10 cruises in my life. I'm concentrating on the smaller, luxury lines but I cannot figure out which one is the best. The reviews are overwhelming. The short list of options (due mostly to scheduling) include the Azamara Quest, Viking Star or Orion, RSS Voyager or Windstar Wind Surf. Oceania seems great too but not sure their itineraries work for us. HELP! Please ;) SaveSave
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted January 27, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Look closely at the itineraries. If it includes popular ports then check this website to see what other ships will be in port. http://www.cruisemapper.com/ports-in-mediterranean-and-black-sea-4 We found some ports were unpleasantly crowded on our Med cruise last year - Marseilles, Santorini, Dubrovnik and Corfu in particular. Rare Keith1010 Posted January 27, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2018 I would get a TA who specializes in cruises to help you. I say this because we don't know you and there are lots of lines sailing the mediterranean and lots of itineraries and the costs vary. Also most itineraries can be port intensive so you can sit by the pool but most often you will be in port. We can't give you a recommendation on a TA per cruise critic rules so I would ask friends who cruise if they have a recommendation for you. Aquaholic612 Posted January 27, 2018 Author #4 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Thank you! Will def check out the cruise mapper site, I've never seen that. We are also working with a TA that is our friend but since she hasn't personally been on any of these ships I am hoping someone out there has and can give me a reason to lean towards/away from one. JMorris271 Posted January 27, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Windstar by far! The atmosphere is very 30ish, great food and fewer distractions. Higher cost, but it is very special and worth the price. If you are doing it once, do it right. Otherwise do it average.
