NJCruiser78 Posted January 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2018 This is my first post so I apologize if I'm doing it wrong. We'll be taking our 6th cruise in July on the Celebrity Summit to Bermuda from Bayonne. After being on Royal Caribbean five times (Majesty, Monarch, Sovereign, Oasis and Anthem) it'll be the first cruise we have taken on Celebrity. Luckily, we have not had an issue really with "chair hogs" much, though it was a noticeable problem on Anthem, even though we were still able to find seats. This might be skewed by the fact that the cruise on the Anthem was taken in May while the others were all in December, January or February. I understand Celebrity Summit is much closer to the Sovereign class than the Oasis or Quantum class, but I'm still not sure what I'll find, especially since there is three sea days. Basically, have you encountered a lot of issues with people "reserving" chairs on the Summit (or sister ships)? If so, what (if anything) can be done about it? Thank you, I look forward to hearing your responses.

cb at sea Posted January 27, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Chair hogs are not a "ship thing"...go to any resort with a pool or beach, and you will encounter the same hogs. That said, we've never had an issue finding some place to sit on or around the pool deck. Usually, the deck above the pool is less crowded, quieter and more expansive. IF, for some reason EVERY lounger has a towel draped neatly across it, I will ask folks sitting nearby if anyone is actually USING the lounger...if not, I'll have a seat. Don't be afraid to ask those sitting nearby if they've seen anyone actually USING the lounger! Or, as a pool attendant to find you a seat in the area you'd like. The crew wants you to be happy...and if you're THERE, they will make it happen.
Rare Keith1010 Posted January 27, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2018 Chair hogs exist on all cruise lines/ships. I have seen them on luxury, premium and mainstream lines as well as different sizes of ships. It's called entitlement and selfishness and it's too bad but I just don't let it ruin our time on board any ship. Keith
JMorris271 Posted January 27, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 27, 2018 I have to concur with Keith. They are everywhere. You can escape them. The pool staff will help if you ask them but the hogs are not going away. This is true for all lines.
