lovescats5 Posted February 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2018 We are thinking about the GV on the Dawn for a December sailing. I was wondering what might be included in the cost. Does everyone get a drink package or just 2 (we are booked on the Breakaway in an H2 and 2 have to purchase a package). Also is the limo service from airport to ship and then ship to airport or just one way? Last, are the speciality restaurants included or are they also an added cost? Thanks for all the info. We are former Star Class on Oasis and are giving the Haven suites a try. Looking forward to hearing pro's and con's.

However, with the GV you will get 6 bottles of alcohol free of charge. The limo service was from the ship to the airport - just one way (in our case, from the ship to our hotel). Specialty restaurants are not included unless you select the SDP as a perk - then you will get 3 days of specialty dining for a 7 night cruise. All of the perks are only for the first two passengers in the GV.

gymbomb Posted February 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 5, 2018 Can you order specialty dining to your room? Does the butler set this up? Yes, but you have to either pay the regular price for the specialty restaurant or use one of your dining package credits for it.

We are nervous about him and dinner time, so thought in room dining might be best. Do you have any suggestions for cruising with a baby?
dexddd Posted February 5, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 5, 2018 Can you order specialty dining to your room? Does the butler set this up? Yes, you can order specialty to the room via the butler. You also get in-room bottled water and soda for that room plus a champagne (and a sparkling wine if a Lats member). You'll also get that in your H2 on the BA and 3 bottles of booze (not 6 like the GV gets). Note that the H2 has noise leaks into it from the H3 next door and pax 3 and 4 will sleep on the sofa bed in the living room.
cruise4kicks Posted February 5, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 5, 2018 We once had dinner from Cagney's brought into the GV. Our butler was training another butler, so we each had our own butler serve dinner, course by course. We're spoiled for life!

We are former Star Class on Oasis and are giving the Haven suites a try.Looking forward to hearing pro's and con's. Although I haven't cruised on Oasis, I may be able to answer questions specifically about the Garden Villa on the Dawn. We cruised in 14500 the week of Thanksgiving 2017 and enjoyed the amount of indoor and outdoor space it offered. When we dined in the suite restaurant for breakfast and lunch (Cagneys and Moderno for this ship) our son and daughter-in-law ordered alcoholic beverages (they were booked in the GV but did not purchase the drinks package) our waiter said they would be taken care of and we were not billed. This was our experience. We booked 6 in the GV. The first two had drink packages as a perk, only one other person purchased the UBP. The remaining three purchased drinks at cost. Our experience was that not everyone in a cabin has to purchase the drinks package or even the soda package. Since we had the 6 bottles of booze, sodas, mixers and a small ninja like blender we asked for, the alcohol was used for cocktails we made in the suite. We asked for margarita mixer and pina colada mixer I believe. We threw in some fresh fruit also. Yum! You will have unlimited sodas and bottled water provided in suite too. The other questions you have asked have been answered but I will let you know that we have cruised in a GV three times and twice we were taken back to the airport in a stretch limo (Miami and Houston) and once in a van (Puerto Rico). So the method of transportation might vary depending on where the port is located. Go for the Garden Villa on the Dawn. You will enjoy the privacy and the space for your family and friends. No other ship in the NCL fleet except for the Star has the amount of space.

You get them all unless you choose to decline any. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
gymbomb Posted February 6, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 6, 2018 @Gymbomb, I saw in your signature that you cruise with a baby, this is our first cruise with our 13month old. We are nervous about him and dinner time, so thought in room dining might be best. Do you have any suggestions for cruising with a baby? We have cruised with my son at 10 and 27 months, and daughter will be 9 mo this on our next cruise. We have never done in room dining (though we may try it once next time). For the dining room and specialty restaurants we just go in knowing that we may have to take turns getting up and walking around with him if needed. Sometimes after we ordered one of us would take him out for a few minutes while we waited for food. At 10 months the things that helped most were taking some Cheerios or something with us for him to snack on at the table, and sometimes we had them bring some fruit with the salads that we could cut up for him. He liked to eat so he was pretty good as long as there was an endless supply of food :) For the buffet the biggest help was taking a baby/toddler carrier and wearing him on my back while we got plates. Buffet was also great for grabbing some fruit and yogurt for a morning snack. We did that even when we stayed in the haven, though I imagine we could have gotten the butler to deliver it if we’d asked. We packed disposable bibs and placemats so we knew his food was on something clean and didn’t have to deal with dirty bibs. We also packed a bottle brush and small bottle of dish soap to clean the bottles/sippy cups/ baby spoons we took with us. We love the Dawn and will be in a family suite with baby and 4 year old in a few months! We take a few toys, and also visit the area where they have toys set up for babies/toddlers to play with their parents. PaNJCA Posted February 10, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 10, 2018 We have cruised the GV on the STAR and now in March will have the GV on the DAWN. Our first GV cruise on the STAR was amazing! We cruised over the Christmas holiday and our butler decorated our cabin for the kids. He got to know by the 2nd day their favorites and surprised them each night with milk and cookies. They became spoiled by his amazing service throughout the 7 day cruise. This time it's a NO kids birthday celebration aboard the DAWN. Looking forward to at least 2 nights of ordering into the GV. It's so much nicer in your own space with the service and wine too. In the morning we ordered our food to the GV on 4 days. We would wake up to white linen on the dining table and our food waiting and covered. It was the most amazing Christmas cruise ever. Once you've cruised in the GV it's difficult to compare other suites or cabins. You will love the space with your family and all that it offers. Have a great cruise and book it soon. GV's book up often a year in advance.

PaNJCA Posted September 29, 2018 #15 Share Posted September 29, 2018 We ordered ours in advance with the NCL concerige desk. Once onboard we swapped out a few bottles as the butlers are so helpful. My hubby like Captain Morgan’s and he swapped it for us. You’ll have mixers than you can imagine. Enjoy! It’s our favorite vacation and suite onboard.
