Question about CAS offers

Hi all,

Just recently completed my first cruise with NCL, and my fiance is a fairly big gambler at the casino. We earned enough points that judging from what I've read on here, he will not have a problem getting a comp offer for a cruise. I know you can either wait for the mail offer or call CAS directly.

However, I'm not sure which itineraries tend to be comped. Is it mostly Bahamas/Bermuda itineraries? Does anyone have experience with getting non-Caribbean itineraries with CAS discount or comp? We are looking at doing a cruise out of Europe for our honeymoon, or maybe Alaska or something a little different and just wondering if we would have success applying our credit there.

Hi all,

Just recently completed......... Does anyone have experience with getting non-Caribbean itineraries with CAS discount or comp? We are looking .......

We have had comp’d cabins in the northern baltic, Alaska and the Mediterranean. Upcoming we have Asia & Panama.

The type of cabin/discount really depends on length of cruise and it’s popularity. Pick 2-3 itineraries you like and then phone CAS, they will let you know what you qualify for!

Adding to those above, I can give you an example. I called and asked about two different 7 day cruises based on my recent play on the Escape.

For the Bliss from Seattle to Alaska, I was offered an OceanView. (I could have gotten a nice balcony on an older ship to Alaska.)

For Bliss from Miami to Caribbean, I was offered a Mini-suite. Booked Caribbean for now and I'll wait another year for Alaska.

Hi! I have been a CAS player for about 6 or 7 years - about 10 or so cruises at this point. My play doesnt vary much -- about 15,000 points per 7 day cruise. Not a HUGE player, but consistently play at an acceptable level for them to comp the next cruise. My own personal experience is that I get much better comps on the large Away ships basic Europe cruises, Caribbean and Bahamas cruises and Bermuda cruises than I do on the more expensive or unique itineraries on smaller ships. By way of example, I got only a balcony on a longer unique Spirit itinerary in Europe, but got a penthouse non-haven suite on Jade in Europe, Pearl to Alaska, and Pearl to Western Carib. But I got a 2 bedroom suite on Epic Europe itinerary, a haven aft suite on Breakaway to Bermuda, and same on Breakaway to Bahamas. My completely unscientific gut instinct is the larger the ship, the more higher end rooms CAS can comp...

My first gambling cruise on NCL was April 2017 and I was surprised that I didn't get any mail offers. I didn't pursue it since I had plenty of other cruises with other lines booked. I did want to sail one more time before the end of March 2018 to hit the next level in the players club.

Looking in October 2017 for a March 2018 deal, there was a real soft spot where I could go on a 7 day Escape in a balcony for $649. I was willing to PAY that, but I called because there was a particular perk I wanted.

The host explained that NCL typically will not start making mail offers until three cruises are taken to get average play. However, when he saw my play for the one cruise, he put me in a Spa Mini Suite (which is what I paid for on my first cruise) gave me the beverage package, 3 specialty meals and OBC (don't remember how much. In fact it was a surprise since he didn't mention it.)

Well with just two cruises for rated play, I called recently and asked about one more trip before the end of March 2018. (Yes ... just one more!)

I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with the offer:

Comped in Haven Courtyard Penthouse with Balcony

Beverage Package

3 specialty restaurant dinners

250 min internet package

Wine

Shore excursion

$300 OBC

Hint: I spent A LOT of time in the casino!

But I mention this for two reasons.

First, if you play consistently, NCL rewards good play accordingly-- much better than my recent experiences this past year on Princess where I've sailed for three years; their bounce back offers have become insulting.

Second, if you play well, at first you may have to call and ask for something until you have a good "average" with them.

Thanks for all this info - also to everyone else in this thread! Yes, we figured that we have to create a track record for better offers to come. Luckily we were on the BA during some of the storm-craziness so we got credit to apply to a future cruise and did CruiseNext to get some more credit. So with CAS (as you mentioned, we plan on calling directly) and that combined, we are looking at doing two more cruises in 2018 so that for the future, NCL will have some stats to compare it to. The fact is, my fiance would be putting the $$ down in the casino regardless of where we were haha - so we may as well be getting some of the rewards :D

I am taking my first comped cruise on the Escape in April. I am not a huge player and have been on three straight Away sailings, the last 2 on the Escape. I called CAS after the last cruise and inquired and that is when they offered an oceanview for this sailing. I upgraded to balcony. I also got all 4 offers. I have since received other offers for NCL comped cruises, for slot tournaments and poker.

Interestingly enough, I have received several offers of comped cruises from RCCL also. I took them up on a 7 day Allure cruise in August. Total cost was 93 bucks for a balcony. No other perks though. I have sailed many more cruises with RCCL and have never even thought to check with their casino department. I had seen someone post about contacting NCL so that is why I did that in the first place. Makes you wonder if they are spying on each other either for gamblers. Ha.

Couple of quick questions...what should I expect different from a "normal" cruise? As far as embarkation, etc? I am a newbie at the CAS process and trust you folks to give me better info than I can find anywhere else. Any other onboard perks or unexpected surprises? Just looking for any tips out there.

I usually book direct through CAS or CR but my last cruise was on RCL to Bermuda. I am a table games player(black jack) and was playing with a gentleman I met on a table during the cruise. We struck up conversation over the 5 day cruise and told me he books his cruises through a JUNKET host and gave me his name and number. I never heard of a junket host but was looking to go on a cruise in April with the family. We typically book 2 rooms connecting so we are comfortable. I called CAS and was offered comped interior room for two and called RCL and was offered $750 off any cruise or comp room on specific sailings. So I decided to reach out to the JUNKET host and was able to get a balcony room comped for 3. We also received the connecting balcony at the casino discounted rate.

I am very pleased with my first experience. He also has access to other cruise lines and land based casinos. So if you play it might be a good option to inquire into.
