Sunnyinpa Posted February 18, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2018 My husband and I have 2 weeks and would like to cruise for a week from Montreal or Quebec with stops along the way to Halifax using the second week to rent a car in Halifax and drive to New Brunswick. I know a while back I saw a one way but now that I want to play further, I am having a hard time trying to find it again. Any recommendations? Thanks, Sunny in PA
1025cruise Posted February 18, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 18, 2018 I don't believe this itinerary exists.
maryann ns Posted February 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Why not come here on a land tour. The driving is easy and there is so much to see. Two weeks would give you a good amount of time for Nova Scotia, a bit of New Brunswick and PEI. You can fly in/out of Halifax or Moncton or into one and out the other. chengkp75 Posted February 19, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Yes, any cruise that starts in one Canadian port and ends in another is limited to Canadian flag ships, by the Coasting Trade Act, very similar to the US's PVSA and Jones Act. I know there are some small lines that do the St. Lawrence River, but not sure if they go down to Halifax.
shipgeeks Posted February 19, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 19, 2018 HAL has some Montreal to Boston itineraries. Would it suit you to backtrack from there?
Rare martincath Posted February 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2018 The only 'cruise' I can think of that might have involved Montreal to somewhere else Canadian would be CTMA service down St Lawrence to the Magdalen Islands (IIRC about a week). It's mostly round-trips but I believe there are some special itineraries with different/extra stops, and maybe you could do a one-way (there's also a ferry from the islands to PEI, from which you can drive on into Nova Scotia, New Brunswick etc). As already mentioned there's no way any of the regular lines covered on these boards could offer a one-way Canadian cruise, so it must have been somewhere else you saw the info - or perhaps another person asking a similar question rather than an actual cruise itinerary.
