1westover Posted February 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Our first experience with the FLL cruise port and would greatly appreciate a few suggestions. We are looking for a nice 4 or 5 ** hotel that offers airport shuttle, either comp. or $$. Convenient to where we overnight, would like a a store to purchase several bottles of wine. We will not have a car. Thank you SO much for your time.
CruiserBruce Posted February 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2018 There are dozens of hotels threads here...take a look around. Perhaps the newest 4/5 star place is the Ft Lauderdale Conrad. As discussed here regularly, don't get tied up in shuttles, taxis are plentiful and inexpensive, and Uber is even cheaper.
capriccio Posted February 19, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2018 Start with www.sunny.org. Many cruisers like the 17th Street area for proximity to the airport and Port Everglades, a range of hotels (Embassy Suites, Hyatt Place, Holiday Inn Express, Renaissance, Hilton Marina, and Four Points by Sheraton plus some I may have left some out), lots of dining and shopping options. The Harbor Shops have a Publix grocery (sells wine and beach stuff), a Total Wine (lots and lots of wine at good prices), and a TJ Maxx (beach clothing and accessories). The nicest hotels (4* and 5*) are on the beach a little further away from the airport and port but still convenient to shopping and dining. All the major chains (Hilton, Four Seasons, Conrad, Ritz Carlton, Sonesta, W, Marriott Harbor Beach, etc.) are represented plus there are locals like the Pillars, Lago Mar, the Atlantic, the Pelican Grand, and the Riverside (downtown, not on the beach). Take a look at recommendations on this board too.
cruiseapril Posted February 20, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2018 We would price out Hyatt Place, Holiday Inn Express, and Embassy Suites as they are near the port and in a good walking area.
DaveOKC Posted February 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 20, 2018 We would price out Hyatt Place, Holiday Inn Express, and Embassy Suites as they are near the portand in a good walking area. AND they are all near Total Wine!!
BlueHerons Posted February 20, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 20, 2018 We would price out Hyatt Place, Holiday Inn Express, and Embassy Suites as they are near the portand in a good walking area. These are not 4-5 star hotels but they are great hotels near shopping, dining, and the port. To the OP, aside from The Conrad, take a look at The Pillars, The Ritz-Carlton, and The W Hotel. Redrobo Posted February 25, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Any thoughts on Pier 66. Is it still Hyatt?
CruiserBruce Posted February 25, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Any thoughts on Pier 66. Is it still Hyatt? No. It is no longer a Hyatt. A quick Google search reveals it is the Pier 66 Hotel and Marina now. There are dozens of discussions on it here. It is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. AnnieB925 Posted February 25, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 25, 2018 We just stayed at the Hilton Marina in a tower room overlooking the port. From there we were able to walk to Total Wine and More to purchase wine for our cruise. I would highly recommend both the Hilton and Total Wine. 1westover Posted February 26, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted February 26, 2018 Thanks to all for your remarks. We have confirmed the Hilton Marina with a tower view room. Will either walk to Total Wine or ask Uber to stop on our way from the airport to the hotel.
