mara93 Posted February 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2018 Hola! We will be cruising the Mexican Riviera on the Splendor in June. Although we prefer balcony cabins, we booked OV due to price. Carnival has offered us an upgrade that would half the cost had we booked a balcony from the get go & we want to upgrade. The only balcony cabins available are on deck 6 & 8. Let's skip deck 8 as it's directly under Lido. For deck 6, there are a few cabins available but they are directly above the Promenade. Are some areas not as noisy? Here are our options: 6336 - Above Casino 6374 - Above Club O2 6380 - Above Club O2 6386 - Above Arcade 6398 - Above Red Carpet Dance Club 6419 - Above Promenade, close to Taste Bar (idk if they have singers placed nearby) 6443 - Above El Mojito Wine Bar Any input appreciated. Thanks!
JaxsMama Posted February 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2018 We just got back from staying in 6403 on the Magic. It was over the ocean plaza where bands play late and the alchemy bar is located. I was super worried about noise but we didn't hear a peep. Magic is newer compared to Splendor, wonder if that played a part. Did you get an email or phone call? Going on the same cruise in April and haven't heard a word! I received an email. This is my first time booking directly with Carnival, don't know if not having an agent would be why we were offered the upgrade.
beachbum53 Posted February 23, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 23, 2018 Since we've never been on the Splendor, I can't give you first hand knowledge. However, based on the list of cabins you've posted, my choice would be 6443. You'll have cabins above, it's right around the corner from the Aft stairway and elevators, and I doubt if there would be much (if any) noise from the El Mojito Wine Bar at night. Seems like the best choice to me.
lcpagejr Posted February 23, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2018 Why are you concerned about Lido deck?? It will be quiet when you sleep. Only considerable foot traffic will be during day when your out and about. Its not as noisy as you think. Depending on where the cabin is....the only potential noise could be some chair dragging in early morning...but its not earth shattering. Don't rule out deck
SadieN Posted February 23, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 23, 2018 I’d avoid being above/near the nightclub. Otherwise the other areas seem to be ok based on your descriptions. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Raysgirl Posted February 23, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2018 We have stayed on deck 8 aft on the splendor and never have a noise issues. We love deck 8, just run up 1 flight of stairs and we are at the adult pool and/or the food.
SpaceCowboy9 Posted February 24, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 24, 2018 Concerned about the Lido? Our first cruise, we slept right under the Lido & we were under one of those sliding doors. That's all we heard. Ear plugs helped, but I'm a heavy sleeper. Anyway, no more, I try to be sure I'm not under or near anything hinky.
salty dingo Posted February 24, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 24, 2018 6336 - Above Casino - NO - Can you hear"ding, ding, ding" all night long? 6374 - Above Club O2 - OK, kids don't stay up too late. Should be quiet at night 6380 - Above Club O2 - OK, ditto 6386 - Above Arcade - NO - Some of the games may make noise at night, I think it may be open late. 6398 - Above Red Carpet Dance Club - Not no, but HE!! NO 6419 - Above Promenade, close to Taste Bar (idk if they have singers placed nearby) - OK, should be quiet at night 6443 - Above El Mojito Wine Bar - Not sure... do winos get loud after a few glasses>
HawksFan74 Posted February 24, 2018 #11 Share Posted February 24, 2018 We had a balcony room under the lido buffet on Splendor a couple years ago. Other than the occasional food service cart rolling by, it was quiet. I would assume quieter than being under the pool deck. rufflesmom Posted February 24, 2018 #12 Share Posted February 24, 2018 We were in a balcony cabin on deck 8 right under the Red Frog Rum Bar. The only time we heard any noise from above was late at night if we were on the balcony and that was people dragging chairs. It was surprisingly very quiet. Don't write off deck 8 just because of the Lido deck.
CKM Posted February 24, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 24, 2018 I’ve been on the Splendor twice. Both times on level 7 ( cabin 7439 , 7434 - this cruise Mexican Riviera). Neither time was there a problem with noise to where I couldn’t sleep. The Splendor is a unique ship, they only made one Splendor class. But the Carnival Splendor was transferred to Carnival Cruise Lines during construction.[7]

kingoftheicedragons Posted February 25, 2018 #21 Share Posted February 25, 2018 We just got off of the Splendor a couple of weeks ago. We stayed on Lido deck, so I can't comment specifically on the rooms and areas that you are looking at. I would probably, in general, avoid an area that is over the casino. The arcade is open 24/7 as it is on other ships, but is definitely going to be a lot quieter than the casino. When it comes to sound, I would avoid being the atrium on any deck. The music and activities held in the atrium bar on deck 3 was fairly loud--a lot of times they would have the music trivia party there in the evenings, which are fun but it was still quite loud at the atrium on Lido. In fact, I don't know if this was done by the employees or people sailing, but the doors that separate the cabin area from the open atrium area (you know, the ones that are closed when you first board with the signs telling you not to enter because your cabins aren't ready) were closed every night to keep the sound away from the cabins. As we walked down the hall away from the atrium, we could still hear the music almost all the way to our cabin at the front of the ship.
RELANE821 Posted February 25, 2018 #22 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Just got back from the Splendor. My vote would be el mojito or taste bar. El Mojito was always very low key and the taste bar was never utilized. The live music on the promenade is right in front of the casino bar so no worries there. mara93 Posted February 25, 2018 Author #23 Share Posted February 25, 2018 Thanks for the input. We've selected the room above the arcade, we've hardly seen anybody in the arcades & doubt there will be someone in there at 2 am. I'll report back if we made the wrong decision.
