ozziewanderer Posted March 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Hi my first time here on CC. I've read posts about choosing repositioning cruises 'well in advance'....how do I do that? Someone mentioned vancouver to Japan, and as we regularly visit our daughter in Vancouver, (from Aus) this seems like a great way to come 'home'...plus flight from Japan to Syd. Can anyone advise me please. Thank you.
paul929207 Posted March 6, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 6, 2018 We take a number of repo cruises. If you have one you want, contact your TA or the cruise line to book it.
Rare Essiesmom Posted March 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Goto http://www.cruisetimetables.com. Choose your departure port. Cruises from Vancouver will be leaving latsummer/early fall in the northern hemisphere. Sept/Oct. Repos from Downunder will usually be in Late March/April. Ships heading to Alaska for the season, and from Aaska after the season. EM
Rare Keith1010 Posted March 6, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2018 I too would recommend going to a travel specialist to help you with this. Some of the repositioning cruises are offered each year by cruise lines and some more then that and some are offered from time to time but not yearly. Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted March 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Celebrity have a couple in 2019, on Celebrity Millenium: Japan to Vancouver in late April Vancouver to Japan in September - which is probably the one that would suit you. To find these I searched the Celebrity website for Transpacific cruises. We've cruised on Celebrity twice, on Celebrity Solstice, and enjoyed both cruises. ozziewanderer Posted March 6, 2018 Author #6 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Thanks everyone you've given me somewhere to start. I'm not sure about crossing an ocean! ..worried about sea sickness....all our cruising has been in 'quiet' waters, but it would be a change of pace coming home. Again, thank you. rose6 Posted March 6, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 6, 2018 If you are concerned about sea sickness pay careful attention to your location on the ship. A cabin midship and on a lower floor will be more comfortable. On Celebrity, I have been able to get complimentary sea sickness tablets at the guest relations desk which I would take if the seas are expected to get rough. ozziewanderer Posted March 6, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted March 6, 2018 Thanks rose6. We are sailing the Tahiti islands in a few weeks and I'm a little concerned, I will check for tablets.
konatyme Posted March 7, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 7, 2018 I've had great luck with ginger capsules (from the health food store) & generic meclazine (non-drowsy).
ozziewanderer Posted March 7, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted March 7, 2018 I've tried ginger tablets, but as I don't like ginger I still end up feeling pretty horrible! But thank you.
