sunsetme Posted March 7, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Have all the cruise lines stopped their excursions to the mainland, I know RCL has. I am hoping things will improve by May when I cruise.
hockeygal54 Posted March 7, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2018 Not meaning to be snarky but why would u want to ferry over to the mainland when there are so many things to do on Cozumel? And the island is totally unspoiled on the east side. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
maldenmusic Posted March 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2018 In my opinion, there's really no need to go to the mainland. The ferry ride can be choppy, crowded. Just as beautiful on the island.

ABQrobin Posted March 17, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2018 From what I understand from the locals, they are instituting bag searches at the ferry station on Cozumel, before you get on the ferry. So expect to arrive 20+ minutes early. That is for traveling by ferry downtown on your own, not the cruise lines. The cruise lines....? I would expect they are looking into something similar when they restart using the ferries, but nothing announced yet.

What can you tell me about that part of the island. Could be a nice change for us.

Could be a nice change for us. Here is a link to a map. Click on individual beaches for some insight as to what is available - a little dated but gives you general idea. Enjoy videos. http://cozumelmexico.net/Cozumel-Beaches.html Be sure to arrange transport, not many waiting taxis on this side. Bar hop can be cost effective for party of two, otherwise we usually book a private driver through ToursPlaza. We have also had a private driver with just two people when we want to set our own itinerary. If you know where you want to go, and just need a driver - not necessarily help or a tour, you can take a taxi from dispatch for a set number of hours - agree before you leave. Ask if you have any specific questions.

c-leg5 Posted March 25, 2018 #11 Share Posted March 25, 2018 Did you pre-book with ToursPlaza? Or upon arrival (if so, they must have a kiosk or office there? TIA! You need to pre-book with a private driver so they can get permission from the taxi union to meet you inside the port. That is why you have to go to an off-site location for many independent tours on Cozumel. If you want to take a tour in the day of arrival you would have to wait at taxi dispatch, as I said before. Eduardo, the administrator for ToursPlaza, is very efficient and will answer any questions you have.
