Hello we are cruising in a suite for the first time and not really into what they provide for the mini bar and we have the all you can drink package. Can we exchange the mini bar for wine and if so what are my choices? TIA!!!

From the Captain Circle Membership FAQs:

I’m an Elite member, is there a way to customize my mini-bar?

Yes, you can make changes onboard by dialing room service. Mini bottles of liquor can be exchanged; liquor can also be exchanged for beer. You can also exchange the entire setup for: a bottle of wine, coffee cards, sodas only or waters only.

I believe the wine list is limited to bottles priced under $29.

The selection is very limited, only those wines listed in the room service menu. You can't replace the mini-bar with a bottle of wine from the general wine list, even if it's cheaper. I know because I tried. The mini-bar can be replaced with a $40 or less bottle of wine from the room service list.

Last month on the Ruby Princess I exchanged the minibar setup for a bottle of wine. When I called Room Service I was told that the only choices were the Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir or Chardonnay.

Now, I know that "Robert Mondavi Private Selection" wines are low-dollar (< $10 in most stores) wines of little or no distinction. I gave a big sigh and asked for the Cabernet Sauvignon. I did not care for it.

If we ever sail in a suite again, if the only option I'm offered is "Robert Mondavi Private Selection," I'll consider replacing the minibar setup with the coffee cards. I don't drink lattes, or mochas or espressos, but maybe I can use it for a gelato, or maybe I can find somebody who would appreciate it.

Any of them a sweet wine

They're not supposed to be. However, . . . .

The exchange for 2 Coffee Cards is a far better value .

Almost $70 total value for the 2 cards .[emoji383]

$70. How much is that worth in gelato?

Yes, but unfortunately the coffee cards are now coming with an expiry date.
