Thank you for asking.

We are okay.

We live 5 miles from Route 30. That road was a direct route to get to the Parkway East to get to downtown Pittsburgh. And also to get from the Parkway East to the Parkway West to get to the airport. The suggested route will take people an extra 30 to 45 minutes since it is a one lane road to get to Pittsburgh.

This was the worse of the 60+ slides we have had the last couple of months.

Too much rain and snow.

Several buildings were evacuated on Friday as engineers saw more of the road slipping away.

Two apartment buildings -- each with 4 units -- have been torn down.

Several other small apartment buildings and a few homes have been evacuated.

How awful for those residents!

Many of them elderly.

All have been put into hotels -- Penn Dot (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation) is paying for all this for a while till new homes are found the displaced people.

Many were able to take only their prescriptions. Workers will be escorting others tomorrow into their apartments to get their prescriptions.

Many of the slides have not been too bad. There have been quite a few homes destroyed along with a few businesses.

Just about a month ago we watched live on TV as a home went over another hillside. The people living there had just made their final payment -- 30 years of payments gone in a flash.

I know if any kind of a disaster happened to us, I would not be able to handle it.

Had enough of a nightmare in 2010 when part of our house roof collapsed due to extreme heavy snow and we were torn up for months.

I true night mare for sure. I well remember the winter so many rooofs collapsed from the weight of the snow.

I pray I never have ro deal with su ch a diseaster, all alone.

I don't know if any of you have gone to one of our 3 local TV stations:

KDKA

WTAE

WPXI

but all three have been showing the house at the top of the hill -- several stories -- foundation is cracked badly and it will now have to be torn down.

What an awul thing to experience. One has to feel for the people to whom that house is/was, home.

PennDot has hired a moving company (not one I would use) to move their stuff out of the house. They are fortunate to be able to save their belongings compared to the other people.

I guess they really have to look for the silver lining.
